not really. they got rid of half their payer base probably and are getting payed by the other half. financially it makes perfect sense. they merge servers so there will be less server maintenance and re-promote the game in the summer. SE is a business first so if they have the choice to have 100% players not pay or 50% pay they need to take the money.
How could they foresee even generally what percentage of the playerbase they'd be losing?not really. they got rid of half their payer base probably and are getting payed by the other half. financially it makes perfect sense. they merge servers so there will be less server maintenance and re-promote the game in the summer. does it really matter how much of their playerbase they lost? they had 2 choices dont charge keep more people loose money. or charge loose people but actually make money. So I think Syntaxlies point was it doesn't matter that they lost players because they are bringing in more income than they would had they decided to not charge and keep more players.

I was pointing out that there was no way SE could have pre-meditated the 50% figure so things worked out well for them. It's not like they sat and came up with a plan and said, "Yes! This idea will cause exactly 50% of the players to leave the game and that's it"! I see what you're both saying, however.does it really matter how much of their playerbase they lost? they had 2 choices dont charge keep more people loose money. or charge loose people but actually make money. So I think Syntaxlies point was it doesn't matter that they lost players because they are bringing in more income than they would had they decided to not charge and keep more players.
