Your Au Ra looks entertaining, energetic, and like she'd be a blast at parties. I thoroughly enjoy it. Not too cutesy and not too serious.

As for my Hrothgar, I couldn't pick this face and not use the horn. It was a must for me! I do like this face for its tougher appearance in comparison to the softer/cleaner looking ones.
I made her more pale since people tend to use the more 'natural' skin tones on viera. Face 1 is my favorite for viera - bunny like, more mature. That viera and this au ra are my favorite characters I have made in this game. I really do miss my viera, but SE has really disappointed me. I am really hoping SE does right by us and really does a great job updating both viera/hrothgar. That would mean me immediately switching back to my bunny girl.

Yeah, he looks more like a warrior. The other ones are nice, but they seem really 'boyish' if you can even call it that for a beast race. Kind of cutesy, and way too common. 9/10 I see a hrothgar they are using that face.

I'm keeping faith that SE will properly update the new races and offer the other genders in the future. I'm a patient individual and I know it'll take some time, but I still believe in them. I'm not a game developer and I have no idea what level of restraints they have due to 1.0's spaghetti code, but as Web Engineer, I can only hope it's not as bad as some code I've seen written. Fingers crossed that the ball is rolling behind the scenes to get these things to us!

I know what you mean in regard to the other Hrothgar face. It makes a great Hrothgar mage face, in my opinion. Mages usually look a little softer considering they don't typically fight up close and gain scars or wear. The only face I truly don't care for is the first option, but that's just my personal taste. Honestly though, I'm all for people creating a character that they love and possibly connect with. After all, our characters are, too an extent, an extension of ourselves and our tastes. I'm sure you've seen me advocating for male viera to be more manly, like your drawings! I prefer to be more of a warrior type, not that warriors cannot be soft faced, but usually they aren't and I suppose I have a bias on that. But either way, I've rambled on. I really do hope things get cleaned up for the new races and that the other genders are added soon.

I think Hrothgar is expressive. The lack of hair or headgear options were annoying in the beginning but I have gotten over it. Overall I think they did a good job not to clone another Roe but make it a unique race. Good job. But I expect more in the future.

We don't all have resting ***** face, it depends what face was chosen.

The limited hair choices and the static hair as well as the very limited head piece items made me change back to Miqo. I hope they will release more hair choices for Viera as they promised and introduce at least the mogstore gear for them as well. Because right now I have a bunch of hair styles and hair glamour I can't use for Viera even though I payed gil (for Eureka hairstyle for example) or money (for some glamour items from the mogstore) for it.

So yeah... Miqo it is again.

I was a Viera for something around 2 hours? At first I quite liked it because the body type is more like my own, but the limited hair options really got to me quick. That and of course the hat options. I was really looking forward to wearing a witch hat and having the ears poke through. That would be adorable. Also in my opinion the faces aren't as cute as some of the other races.

Question just for the Hrothgar players! How facial expressions on your character, considering it’s just a cat face.
The face and hair combo I picked for my Hrothgar looks great so I'm satisfied. I only used 5-6 hair styles on my Roegadyn even though she had access to everything. Not saying I would be opposed to more customization of course. I like showing off my panther spots and hope that if they add hair customization they won't swap out fur customization. Despite the popular belief that fur patterns will get covered up, the tail pokes through all but a handful of gear items (Evenstar coat for example) and you can easily tell what kind of cat you're looking at.

The facial expressions are really good for an animal face. Not over the top but you can tell how they are feeling. The /furrow emote looks very cat-like haha.

I feel that adding the face option for Hrothgar in the Aesthentician as a quick fix would break something because of the game's spaghetti code.
It probably would break something, actually. Specifically that they almost certainly wouldn't be able to do it without letting all other races access that same setting - assuming their spaghetti coding lets them add/remove settings from the aesthetician menu in the first place.

It's the inverse of the reason why Au Ra can partly change their eye colour (limbal rings) when no other race can change parts of their physical appearance - they use the same setting on the character template that is normally used for racial tattoos or earrings, which are editable.

Doable, yes - but have you considered that for a lion race, that might actually be considered a female hairstyle?

(Which could work for people wanting to pretend it's a female character, I guess...)

    I don't think that's a Hrothgar-specific problem, although the distance might be.

A lot of circlets seem to float somewhere in front of the face so they'll sit over hair rather than being lost in it. Sometimes this works, sometimes it looks terrible.

I've mainly noticed it (or remember noticing it) on my male Au Ra who is using the high ponytail hairstyle with the long fringe - sometimes things sit over it that really should go under.

Elezen don't really seem to fit the "wood elf" fantasy archetype much. Gridanians do, but (as far as we know) there are no Viera tribes in the Twelveswood. If anything, the Padjal are closer to the elf archetype than any of the Elezen residents.

Beyond that, they're really just tall humans, not 'special' like elves usually are. The Coerthans don't have any ties to the forest at all.

    Red face

Hrothgar are VERY animated in expressions actually. I went through all of the emotes the other day and you can't help but smile Lack of hairstyles and headgear doesn't bother me. It's not really ever been a priority of mine. Though it would be nice to have some spiky hair from time to time.

My happy (and expressive) boy below
