Just a quick silly thing that amused me last night.

Was running Syrcus Tower with the roulette, and when it came to hide behind the ice blocks during Amon's fight, our tank was just standing out in the open. I used Rescue on him and was giving myself a pat on the back for a successful save - only to see him run back out into the open and promptly die. D:

He was a mentor, so I'm assuming he had been through that fight before, but hey, we all forget things now and then. Wasn't a big deal and it gave me a nice chuckle :3

Your "rant" kind of proves that one's equipment doesn't really mean anything. You have Savage equipment so you should know better than to just accept the raise without paying attention to what mechanics are happening and if it is safe to do so. Also, your equipment doesn't mean you deserve a raise more.

Honestly, the whole raise thing was more your fault than the healers. It honestly doesn't matter when they get around to raising you, it's on you to time your rezz correctly. Also, sometimes healers can't afford to be throwing MP at someone who keeps dying immediately after raising.



They must have been pretty squishy for them to die before you could set Cure. lmao

I've wiped on Ifrit Normal before. It's embarrassing, to say the least.

I logged into one of my alt recently, I was at unlocking/doing tam-tara deepcroft. We wiped at the first pulled... because I forgot I was the healer. That was really freaking embarrassing..

I almost exclusively play DPS and it was kinda late at night

So it took me a while to get to the Eden raid and I finished the 4 just last week.
(unusually busy work times)

Happened on the first boss, first run.
You would think it would be somewhat noticeable if a player hadn't cleared it, watching the cutscene and the icon on your head and all.
Playing as healer, I die to the boss twice.
I think the other healer was also new, he died about the same but no more than 3x.
This BLM chirps to the healers to stop dying cause the group doesn't have backup raise.
We both quip back 'first time', he shuts up.

I kinda understand where hes coming from, but if you're gonna complain at least pay attention if the dying are first timers or not >_>
We're only looking after ourselves, the tank the boss and you dd all on our first time. unlike you. But ok. Its understandable it gets annoying if both healers die.

Take 3rd try. Both me and the other healer understood the fight by then.
The other healers pretty helpful and fast too so it was smooth between us.
Karma has a funny way but this last and 3rd run we cleared, the BLM died like 5-6x like wtf.
I was tempted to say 'this your first time too?' (because obviously not)
I said nothing but I also did not raise him.
(it wasn't lack of heals he just kept getting hit that time)
I could see the other healer taking his time too.

Then I load into Trial Roulette and land in Innocence. First thing I do is check our healer's gear and find one of them is still in Augmented Scaevan gear. At level 79. Hoo boy. Thanks to the ilvl sync dropping me back to 420, I spent most of that fight blowing every cooldown I had to stay alive, and we only survived Innocence's ultimate because I dropped an lb3, otherwise the two debuff stacks would have killed both healers (one just barely survived, and the Scaevan healer died regardless). Ugh. That was definitely a carry for that healer.

Augmented Scaevan lv70 is literally still the 2nd best at lv79. >.>
The only other that tops it heavily at that lv is the HQ swallowskins.
(and only because its HQ)
I wouldn't say its a carry, rather no one should be getting 2 debuffs to begin with when people properly attack the tethered mobs in order...

Fun little story from just now. Qitana Ravel, tanking on my gunbreaker (leveling roulette). Last boss, stack marker. First time they go off to the side, I don't stack with them, they die. Second stack marker (yeah two of them) they go off to the side, I don't stack with them, they die again. They get mad in chat.

Duty Finder, it's that time
Queue Dusk Vigil, 'cuz 53 will be mine
Loaded in, we greet them all
Brought a healer friend, so the climb won't be so tall

DRK, WHM, RDM, DRG
This feels like quite the boon
But wait, what's this?
Something's terribly amiss

First mass dash out the gate
The tank's hp drops like dead weight
Why is this? I don't know
Could that gear be all just for show?

We check the tank's gear
And confirm my greatest fear
An i70 greatsword, oh dear god
And possibly dirty sweatpants from the great beyond

Gear that was rather mismatched
This definitely couldn't be fixed with a simple patch
Gloam pieces here and there
Thank god it wasn't his underwear
With a few 50 hq pieces for his body
He could probably feel that laudy

This would explain a great deal
As to why this tank had that 8k hp zeal
Coupled with healer lag
Good god we weren't that glad

We all wipe and start over
But our tank was quite the rover
He sprinted back on when he died
If he did stop, I would have lied

No, he went on to grab it all
Like my mom at the shopping mall
Then used a single cooldown
Hoping it would keep him from going down

That lag spike, there it is
Our healer saw everyone teleport like a wiz
From a lack of heals, our tank is dead
Everyone had to be careful where they tread

He gets him back up, we trudge on through
And I hum to myself oh diddly doo
First and second boss, not that bad
Hallway before the last boss was the cad

Right as the tank ran ahead
The healer had another lagspike in his stead
His cries in Discord were true
The tank had once again gone squish, and failed to follow through

He came running like a bat out of hell, telling him to hold on
And his Swiftcast+Raise was cancelled, 'cuz our tank went back to spawn
As he was next in line on the aggro list
The healer friend too went 'squisht!'

I used my Phoenix Down on him
Right as the tank came running back in
We ran for the last boss and slaughtered it
However the tank refused to stay even for a bit

Because of how the tank failed to prepare
A simple party turned into a nightmare
But that's my story for this stay

Ramuh - Me stating I'm new and nervous as kitten. Got reassured and told to just worry about deeps and that lightning-link thingy + doing my Dragoon rep all honor and guard the ground XD. Being the awesome nervous player I usually am, I proudly fulfilled my duty because I ended up at one point next to the tank and Ramuh's Storm Strike or so didn't have its therapeutic effect *lol*. The group was amused and I have another duty off my list of honoring the DRG meme . Thank you friendly DC Light group for having entertained my presence!

I would take some personal responsibility too, in this case with your bad timing at accepting raises. It sucks, yeah, but also could’ve been avoided if you timed it differently.

I'm not psychic, I had no way of knowing it's coming and I chose to rez twice immediately after an attack assuming there would be downtime but got shafted both times.

You weren't in the duty with me, it's easy to assume I chose a bad time but I really didn't, it was just bad luck twice in a row but I could have avoided dying both times if I got a heal threw at me as I was sitting there using my invincibility.

Sure you have a point on the second one, but I'm not psychic, I don't have all his attacks memorized and you weren't in the duty with me, I know better than to rez into a mechanic. However, in this situation, if you read what I typed, I hit the accept button right after he used an attack both times thinking there would be downtime and both times he started doing his knockback immediately.

It's easy to blame the person who raises but it's not always the person's fault they died right after, if a healer threw an instant cast my way the first or second time I raised after I was standing still for a good 5 seconds I wouldn't have died, but I didn't get one either of those times.

I don't get why people blame anyone but the healer nowadays, it's like healers can't make mistakes and people jump to their aid when they get even a little blame, healers have responsibilities too and one of the things you should always do is heal someone who's low hp, you know, the person who literally just raised with 15% hp and is using their invincibility waiting for their health to be topped off a little?

But sure, blame me for not being a psychic and not topping myself off with my MCH clemency right after rezzing.

You weren't in the duty with me, it's easy to assume I chose a bad time but I really didn't, it was just bad luck twice in a row but I could have avoided dying both times if I got a heal threw at me as I was sitting there using my invincibility.

You keep saying “luck” and putting the blame on some higher power instead of taking responsibility for your bad timing. And it happened more than once. If I were in that duty with you I wouldn’t have given you a priority raise either since you basically threw their MP in the trash and then blamed them for not being fast enough.

Learn to time your raises better. That’s really all there is. You can’t change how others play (those supposed slow-to-raise healers), only how you play.
