Shocked no one has mentioned BLU yet. Considering the idea of limited jobs seems like a complete bust,t hat'd be my first to have looked at if possible.

For Bard, absolutely.
I’d also like to add adjusting Scholar (not really a rework) so that it gets some buff/debuff utility instead of just oGCDs and direct DPS
For Red Mage, though I don’t have it at 80, I felt it was mostly faithful to what a ‘red mage’ would play like in the context of FFXIV. So I haven’t felt that it could do more to be ‘like a Red Mage)
As for a true support role I’d die for that (and have been asking for one since 2.0 lol). Unfortunately, ‘pure support’ is a dirty word in FFXIV, so it’s not something that’ll ever happen, if not solely because the backlash would be so significant. There’s never been any kind of demand for a support role in any way in this game’s history. Also, it’s apparently wholly impossible to balance and require reworks to every single piece of battle content ever released (I don’t think this is necessarily means it’s impossible but it will be said)

I'd be okay with it, but let's be honest...How many would actually play it? Probably not most DPS mains.
Maybe you're right, it was probably those other classes that I was thinking of. I might not remember red mage as clearly as I thought. However I'm not really "asking" for anything to be changed, I would just like to see everyone's interpretation of a certain job that already exists and how they can make it into something realistic to the lore while at the same time thinking outside the box. I believe redmage as it stands is so boring which is why it was my first choice to think about alternatives. But I don't intend to make this a discussion about red mages so I'll just agree with you about the history of the job.On the Topic itself: I don't think any jobs need to be changed, though I guess for some Jobs a bit of cleanup/streamlining in terms of Identity wouldn't hurt.
On the whole RDM thing going on:
I'd argue that outside of FFXI (which took its fair share of liberties when it came to class identity), RDM has never had much of a melee focus.
In fact, objectively, It was meant to be caster first and melee second ever since the addition of Dualcast - a spellcasting ability - in FFV, while it's entire physical prowess stayed limited to using the attack command.
The Job people seem to want RDM to be changed to has had many a name, Spellfencer/Spellblade/Mystic Knight being some of them.
I'd say rather than asking for RDM to be changed, ask for a Job along those lines to be added to the game.

Nobody except me apparently lol, which I guess why there’s never been any real discussion about such a thing in ffxiv. The closest we’ll ever get to a real ‘support job’ is the ranged DPS role, but Machinist doesn’t have any support options (except Tactician), Bard keeps getting its support removed and Dancer has too low overall DPS to be viable. So the role itself doesn’t have any more of a ‘supportive’ feel than other ‘utility’ jobs like Summoner/Red Mage/Ninja/Dragoon. Dancer is an exception to this, but I don’t know if having a single job of 18 representing what would be an entire role in other games is enough to feel like there’s satisfying alternatives.
Naturally, this is all my personal opinion lol, and I do get that it’s one that’s shared by a tiny minority of players. Which is disappointing, but for the game to succeed they have to cater to the many and not the few, so I accept that it’s not something the developers will ever consider
Ninja could be something that should be changed.
The theme of a eastern assassin that utilizes concealment, distraction and deception disappeared with ShB, and the Hide gameplay is only useful for trash/open world ambushes.
Oh no, I wasn't trying to imply you actually wanted it changed, I was just trying to say it would be better to get a seperate Spellblade-type Job than changing RDM into it. I'm not always great at expressing myself, sorry if that came of rude or something.Maybe you're right, it was probably those other classes that I was thinking of. As for RDM being boring, thats highly down to personal preference. I pretty much main the Job since Stormblood, and while I wouldn't be mad at minor touch ups and fun additions, I find the basic idea behind RDM to be pretty solid. (Last thing I'd want is SE ruining yet another one of my favourite jobs by continuously throwing mechanics on top of mechanics *coughsmncough*)

Blue mage into a normal class so I have a reason to actually play it

red mage, its basically a black mage in a red coat with an often skipped physical rotation. Even the sword turns into a blm staff while casting. It could have been done so much better, but as it is, its a blm with a different rotation and a raise. They could not have been less creative with this class.
Bard, needs to be made into a ranger or actually given a variety of songs, which will not happen as the combat system is not designed around a variety of de/buffs. Its either dmg/def up or nothing, or feels that way.
-and-
Summoner, to be an actual summoner and not a dot mage with a mostly useless pet on autopilot.
None of the Jobs I play feel like they need a complete overhaul, they're fine the way they are.
The one job where the way it plays simply does not live up to the class fantasy is, for me, Bard. I do like the way it plays but it really feels more like a generic archer and not like a Bard.
