Hehe, don't worry! Gil in this game is basically meaningless unless you're very into housing and decorating. Glamour is pretty cheap, and other than that, having millions of gil isn't really needed or useful - it just sits there. All of the 'needed' and best gear in the game cannot be bought, which in a sense makes only housing and glamour as gil sinks, or I guess collecting gil for the sake of just having it...?
I agree with this...although apparently i'm poor coming in at a meager 44mil. The only real thing I spend gil on are crystals for crafting largely cuz I'm too lazy to go gather them myself.
So if I understood this right... crafters are mad that their customers are now able to take the time to shop around and potentially find a lower price? Oh boy.
Really, I see the world visit as a good thing for both buyers and sellers. Buyers have more customers they can sell to. And customers can get a better price. This all comes down to how much time each individual buyer or seller is willing to put in for any given item, and I'm pretty certain the bigger the price tag on the item in question the more time people will be willing to shop around. Supply and demand didn't really change, just the number of the competitors.
Doesn't bother me at all. I have all crafters and gatherers levelled and equipped at current 2 star levels, I can make all the gil I want if I put my mind to it, I just don't want to, I don't need to. Housing and glamour have never really been my thing, all I really care about in terms of collecting is orchestrion rolls, which have never been an issue for me to get hold of (balls to Mahjong though).Hehe, don't worry! There's just no incentive for me to grind out hundreds of millions of gil, it's not my goal, there's nothing to spend it on. I make gil when I need it, but never go out of my way to make more than that. I'm a happy hobo.
I like that they added in the cross world market, gives people more options. As a crafter I haven't noticed a decline in the gil I make. But I normally set my items at a lower price because I gather all my mats so it costs me really nothing (I do not buy into that my time gathering and then crafting an item is worth anything if my time was worth anything I wouldn't spend it in a MMO) so my items normally sell well. I also don't really care about making gil because it really has no use to me at this point. If I need an item I can craft it, or gather it, or if it comes from a dungeon just get some fc friends and go farm it.

Bad crafters wont notice any decline since they only sell NQ zelkova lumber. The prices for them barely changes.
I don't think cross world shopping is really to blame for the prices of crafted gear in 5.05. There are a number of issues.
First off we had plenty of time to gather stacks of DoL materials, timed nodes or not. The real money came from materials that could only be purchased with tomestones, benefiting DoW/M rather than DoH.
Aside from that I don't think it was a large enough ilvl jump to justify a million gil price tag, so initial sales were very slow. Even with most pieces between 200k-400k only about 5-10 sales occur each day (now with fewer items up for sale some prices are starting climb).
Honestly my target market is no longer DoW/M players, instead I target ultra wealthy crafters. I sell my time to those who are not phased buying stacks of materials or materia. It's also become standard practice for me to keep 2/3 my gil as a cushion, and 1/3 invested in potential money makers.
Man...33 mil is nothing? *looks at sad retainers*
C-can yall like make a mass donation and send it my way since gil means nothing to you? I sure know how to blow through all of it and it not being all on house and glam...just saying... don't ask what I spend it on just help the poor out D:!! Plz...?
*cough* but a serious question. What is this thread even about again? I am starting to feel like the main post is not quite it...
