It looks to me as if the majority of players that were playing are still playing? (By the numbers anyways.) Even with the mass amount of defections, maybe somehow others came back? Or perhaps it's the digital copy buyers trying out the game for free still.
Although the some of these populations are low I don't think it's really going to matter in the long run.. They will merge servers that are to low to play by their standards. I expect to see these numbers drastically increase next patch with the release of the job systems and 2 more instances.
For ever person I have heard quit there are 5 saying they will come back with 1.21. Even further then that what is important is 2.0 and I don't like referring this game as a beta, but everything SE is getting right now for income is just going to help them out for 2.0.
The game in it's current form is going no where and everyone knows it. 2.0 is the make or break time and I think it's going to be a hit. I can see the head lines now how SE pulled off the impossible renewal of a dead game.
Yeah, honestly, i know that the hope is for the majority of people to continue playing and paying through to 2.0,
but i think that it is fair to say that 2.0 is coming out even if there are something stupid like 10 people logged on. Every fee that is actually paid at this point helps.

Seit FFXIV: AAR ist er auf dem inoffiziellen RP-Server namens Balmung (Legacy).
actualy, my theory was we would lose 10% or so more players when it hit and it looks like that may be about what happened
most players quit before the pay date hit, and were not going to wait for then, which looks to be like exactly what happened
on Besaid, i may not be looking at exact numbers, but it still looks just as crowded as it did before at the various times of the day I play.

So true, even though I couldn't renew my account for the lack of payment options, you can be certain that I'll do my best to be here in 1.21, and of course, 2.0 is a sure bet too!For ever person I have heard quit there are 5 saying they will come back with 1.21. Just a little sad at the moment for no being able to continue playing with you guys for now.![]()
why? As a veteran i personnally would feel great under all the "ps3 newbs"... "whoo see... he got all this great armor... these great spells..."
i personally would dislike a seperation. i mean there would maybe a better chance also that the servers wont get that low population, if pc and ps3 users are online at the same time, on the same server...
i know that SE planned to put new servers up with 2.0. but i personally dislike the opinion to isolate veterans from the "newbies"
its great to have a new playerbase to the game... it always refreshes the MMorpg
Yah 10%, maybe even less because a lot of people having issues or not being able to pay at all, so i dont count them as lost players just yet XD they might get it fixed in a few days.actualy, my theory was we would lose 10% or so more players when it hit and it looks like that may be about what happened

So true that most already left, prolly when they heard the news it was going p2p it dropped then just stayed at w/e number then, there was no reason to stick around if you wasnt going to pay
