FFXIV is not a failure, never was.

This is mainly towards everyone that keeps saying and thinking "Will this & this & that will make people leave the game", just because the game is still in its development stages.

A majority of people who says that does not realize that Square Enix has the TIME and MONEY to make FFXIV in to a proper game.

Did you guys already forget how much time and money is in put in to each Final Fantasy title that is numbered?

S.E. has already invested a lot of money in to this project, so why would they abandon it? They will not, they will put more resources in to making it better, so to everyone that keeps suggesting that the game should be scrapped and re-newed, you guys are not looking at the bigger picture. They have the TIME & MONEY.

If anything, we should feel lucky that were playing such a big part in the development of the game by having them listen to our opinions and suggestions. Which is quite rare for any game.

    So who wants to argue?

no argument here. se also has the experience of being the creators of the entire ff series. sure it was just square for years, but they have a history of making one great final fantasy after another. i understand it is a shell of a game, but i just have to trust that se will take the correct steps to get this game where everyone expects it to be.

Umm...I think SE is fully capable of polishing this game up, however, what of the people who have payed 50+ dollars to play this game now?

Personally, I think the game is already unique compared to other MMOs. Specifically in it's open ended sandbox feel. However, it's been 6 months since release and those of us who have stayed on should be able to access more content by now. Even though the servers are free to access, we all payed $$ to play a game that as of yet is far from nearing the end of a prolonged beta stage.

I think this argument is reasonable.

Yes, they have both time and money, and they have and will continue to use both time and money until they run out and this game will still be a failure because they are doing it WRONG!

Then, good sir, kindly remove yourself and please go bash at some marmots instead of flogging already strained premises with your heartless comments. Better yet, make yourself useful and go to the Japanese development offices to direct and instruct the development team on how they are doing the game wrong and what steps they should take to ensure a perfect game for everyone. I'm sure they appreciate a person who mocks their uses of money and time for something wrong, pinpoints more issues with the game, yet neglects to mention what implementable alternatives they can use to correct their mistakes. Thank you for your cooperation.

They need to fix things up, and in some cases, major overhauls to the system, but there's a solid bedrock...it's just the top layer which needs a bit of churning and refinement. It'll be a success once it gets its problems fixed.

You are contradicting yourself, providing premises that may never come to pass, and making baseless assumptions. Allow me to elaborate. You are contradicting yourself by saying that both "major overhauls to the system" need to be made and "it's just the top layer which needs a bit of churning and refinement". These are extremely different viewpoints that are in direct violation with each other. You are providing a false premise by saying "once it gets its problems fixed" which is likely to never happen. You are making a baseless assumption that the game will "be a success" as there is extremely little evidence to suggest that that will ever happen.

As for what is actually wrong with the game? I'll say it before and I guess I'll say it again. The UI takes up way too much space on a screen that is supposed to be showing battle animations (those of your character and your allies), the controls are clunky and leave much to be desired from both mouse/keyboard and keyboard-only users, the key-pressing reaction times of the system are incredibly slow by today's gaming standards, the battle/casting animations themselves are so lackluster and boring to execute and watch its laughable, the battle system itself is incredibly boring with battle regimen being an extremely dumbed down version of weaponskill chains, the fact that all content is soloable(taking out the MMO from MMORPG, the dull-as-rocks quests and storyline pale in comparison to those of any other MMORPG (taking out the RPG from MMORPG), and the overall lack of content creates a lack of reason to play. How are they doing the game wrong? Take your pick and send it over to SE if you want. They won't listen to experienced MMORPG players. Beta-testers cried for changes before release and you know what they did? Not a damn thing. This game has already failed and there is nothing anyone can do to revive it. The sooner SE realizes this, the sooner they can scrap the project and build something else.

Bedrock = main backbone of a game. I assume the battle-system and the classes, which need to be changed, do not in any way be part of the main spine. They are merely branches. What I mean by backbone are things like basics, technicalities hard to just shift around and redo again, the bases for which things are built on e.g. the story, lore, graphics, interactions, battle, classes. By all means, battle and classes are important, but if it was gone and the others, the game will still function as per normal, just stripped the the bare.

You talk about evidence; is there any evidence in which the game is destined to fall into failure? It seems we are both guilty of making baseless assumptions then.

As for your points against the game, nice. I won't say you're wrong, since you have pinpointed the majority of the issues. However, as you say about me, you are making a baseless assumption that nothing can revive the game. And say that they do scrap the project and create something else. How do you know that what they create will surpass XIV's ability to please? How do you know it wouldn't fail as you have pinpointed so accurately? Better to try improve a game which may still have a chance, rather then to risk another failure.
