I see pretty much the same thing. Someone gives criticism, people jump on them with the typical "If you don't like it, then leave" attitude.

Sadly, I think it will be the white knights, fanboys, and XI purists that will remain. Which means you'll see a coalescence of ideas like "increase level cap" being supported by their own kind, while the logical and more modern opposition will have been squelched by the forum access.
I just hope they reach out to those not paying for their opinions; because those people are really who SE needs to impress. Not the loyal brand customers who can look past the unforgivable mistakes of the past.
i think like in real life you can get ride of the haters or the trolls or what ever but ...that just means a new group will start being called the haters and trolls. maybe the ones that finally tossing money at a game and expect more. but maybe simple as the people that are left still not all in same place as each other in opinions and now don't have the bigger trolls to group up on lol.
but yeah i think it will be very quite and peaceful come tomorrow. i'ma be kinda glad that they made it so you can't post. it will force me away from these forums ...they were the first and last mmo forum i ever spend more then the 5mins i need to know if i like and want to buy a mmo like a normal person spends on them. this game got the best of my time cause of the ff name and cause of how much i loved ffxi. but ..yeah never more lol.
The community will make a full 180. Paying customers ofcourse will not complain. The Epeen measuring posts about world/server/EU first kills will all become civil and will simply turn into competitive groups of people cheering for each other and sharing strats.
Its gonna be a new world. Nothing but highly motivated highly passionate highly supportive players making this game and this community a better place to be.
I have 8 crafts at 50. All I did was watch T.V. and spam standard for easy mode synths. Enjoy leveling those crafts in 1.19 and beyond everyone!
This is exactly what I think a lot of people fail to realize. I've already seen the first signs of them eating their own. I probably will still come by with the occasional bag of popcorn when I get bored.

Interim solutions are for pansies.

I hope the overall tone of the board will lose a little of its charged negativity. I suspect many of the people who are leaving are unhappy for a myriad of reasons and their departure might shift numbers enough to have an impact.
May those who remain be critical but happy to be here.![]()
The forums will become empty over time as half the population will drop initially when subs begin and then the ones left will slowly start to drop one by as they grow bored of not being able to fill parties while they wait for their promised server mergers. These forums are already desolate when compared to the forums of other mmos. Then everyone will be back for 1.21 if they haven't invested already themselves into another mmo.
If not it'll just be more whiteknights flaming anybody who dislikes any aspect of the game saying if you don't like it leave, learn to play, or wait for 2.0 rather than have an intelligent discussion that could potentially help the future of the game.

Well you have to look at it in a spectrum of players (something I whipped up on paint in a jiffy):
So you might say, why did you put the White Knights to the left and not at the other end? I'd answer and say that it wouldn't matter because both a White Knight and a Troll offer about the same amount of justified reasoning as the other (which would be very little if any for the most part).
So to give a slight description you have Sally Sunshiners which are typically more optimistic players but within reason and logic, they won't just blindly like anything like a White Knight, yet they rarely will troll through out the night (personally I find myself as a Sally Sunshiner).
Debbie Downers are the players whom like the game but don't ever feel like much will change, its not enough to quit for the most part but the future is general bleak. The Eeyore's of the player spectrum to put it blandly.
Then of course there are the trolls and White Knights, followers of chaotic justice for their own respective causes. Whether it be for defending their divine game or to simply get a laugh as other players reel about, it matters not, ultimately the end is the same; confusion, argument, and general resentment.
Now to get to the question at hand, which of these players will be leaving you ask? And will the trolls finally disappear? Answer is, no. A very resolute, no. In fact it might begin to feel like there are MORE trolls (possibly) on the forums. Because the biggest chunk of people that are probably going to disappear are going to be the "The Fence" players to the "Debbie Downers" you can guessimate that probably 75% of these players will leave from the idea of the game never getting better.
You can probably say about 30-50% of "The Fence" players to the "Sally Sunshiners" will leave due to reasonable facts (another game is providing their entertainment for the time being, or they are taking a slight break until a.bc patch is out)
None of your White Knights will leave, they-if they are truly devoted-will be so blindingly in love with the game why should they leave. These versions of trolls (if I may say so) will be just as obnoxious as the counterpart the Troll.
So there you have it. My end all analysis of the situation. The forums will continue to be as they are. Sadly I doubt much will change for the "better" in terms of less trolling/white knighting.
