[SPOILERS] No one seems to be talking about that OTHER huge event

    Heavy spoilers ahead.

The real Zenos not only got his body back, but he freaking killed the emperor.

Uh...that's like super duper important. He has no interest in continuing his father's schemes. He cares little about the "beasts" of Eorzea, or the struggle between Hydaelyn and Zodiark. He cares nothing at all about Ascians or Calamities. He only wants the Hunt. He only wants his one true friend and enemy: the Warrior of Light. That is literally all he cares about.

This means that Black Rose and anything else the Garleans were planning probably won't happen now. We'll have to see what happens to Gaius and Estinien, but now the empire is totally unpredictable.

On top of that, when we get back to the Source and get an update from Tataru, she tells us that there's a weird stalemate now. The Garleans don't appear to be doing anything.

I'm just curious if people realize the significance of all this?

Honestly Lium, with the way Zenos was portrayed in Stormblood, all that happened in the stinger didn't really come as a surprise to me. He was blood thirsty and Varis was just meh. There's also the fact that we would have fought the empire to a standstill with out the crazy Time Traveling shenanigans. The bigger ripples that are playing now is more of the Zodiark/Hydaelyn relationship and the nature of the WoL's origins it seems.

Of all the things in the world to be right about, this stupid joke...

The idea that he wants us each to consume one of the gods and fight to the death, though...

I mean I did keep saying we need something more interesting than his perfectly-executed death in 4.0 to justify him being around.

    This has potential.

What can I say? Emet's plot was far more interesting than "Generic Evil Anime Swordsman seeks to sate his fight boner with WoL(D)". Though that to be fair wouldn't be so bad if the guy in question had more personality than wet cardboard.

I do wonder if Elidibus would have given the go for Black rose anyway after he found out about Emets demise and that the first is now not on the brink of rejoining. Any use of that poison would only lead to normal causalities and not something so huge that a calamity will happen, and since there is no shard ready to join (with the right elements too) any huge loss of life would just mean that he has to work longer again to create a new calamity.

But it is interesting that he gave up Zenos body that fast and that he even told Zenos so much about Zodiark, Hydealyn and the splits. Maybe he understood that we are Zenos prey and hope that Zenos will kill us? Or he was just stupid and gave the wildcard too much information which might be his end.

Anyway I found it funny that the one guy that is seen as a monster, who only lives for a good fight to the death and who kills people for mistakes, also has nothing good to say about Black Rose. Tells us a lot about those that wanted to use it.

We will see how all will turn out. Will he still take the throne, in the hope of finding us faster? Or will he leave the throne open to go on his solo hunt, which will probably lead to another civil war in Garlemald. (Which then could mean that the war against Eorzea is stopped for a while)

I don't know for certain, but I think the reason Zenos' revival is not talked about a lot is because it was inevitable. We knew that it was only a matter of time. The one thing we did not anticipate was that he killed Varis so soon. Not surprising that it happened, but I think most of us expected Varis to play a role for the eventual Garlemald expansion.

I also think another reason is because his goals are pretty straightforward. Fight the Warrior of Light again, and I assume that many expected that he will have the same role as of Stormblood, just amping up the spectacle by involving Zodiark and Hydaelyn for the ultimate showdown.

It's in my hope that he's expanded upon as character as the story moves forward. Presentation-wise, he's a blast to watch, thanks to his overall design, aura and how he chews the scenery when he's excited. However, I find his motive to be rather boring, as his bloodhound tendencies makes him predictable. If he's being hyped up as the arc villain for XIV's main story, I hope we'll see more of him as an individual. He's does not have to be sympathetic, just interesting.

Good points. I will admit that getting involved in a war between the empire and Eorzea seems quite petty and anticlimactic compared to the universe-altering conflict between Hydaelyn and Zodiark. If future story patches have us back in Eorzea fighting the Garleans after everything we just did in the First, it'll be a letdown.

But the events with Zenos, Varis and Elidibus were still significant.

Not sure but I didn't get the impression that Zenos and Elidibus did a lot of actual talking. It more felt like by repossessing his body from Elidibus, Zenos was then privy to the thoughts and plans Elidibus had while in occupation. I very much doubt that he'd willingly reveal anything to Xenos since Xenos has made clear that he sees Elidibus as an adversary and an obstacle

Of course people recognize the significance of this. It means we'll probably have one last duel with Zenos in 5.3!

The Empire will be thrown into chaos, but Gaius is already there to pull it together!
