Fair enough, I guess it's just a preference thing. Personally I'd much rather click the pixels.

Apologies on the thread title, I guess a bit of obvious hyperbole is a bit much for this forum.

There are people here who yell at the devs because they can't use high-level abilities in lower-level dungeons. You can't really be shocked that people take you at your word.

Anyways, both you and your wife are entitled to think /say quests are annoying, of course. Personally, I think they're uncommon enough to be a non-issue either way. Hopefully you're both enjoying the MSQ otherwise!

Its an MMO, type is almost mandatory, even with console, that i too play with and have no problem, is just a few quest, the 2000 other quests u dont need that omg

You should get a keyboard anyway, you can use them in any place you can type text. It is much faster for replying to psn messages for example, entering your password without your friends seeing what it is, etc.

Buying a keyboard is probably the best solution. Sure, some people can type fast without one, but imo people should have a keyboard regardless. It makes life much easier all around...and they are dirt cheap.

I'm on PS4 pro and type on the forums and ingame with my controller. I don't care about the say quest.. what I WANT SE to do is allow us to post links and click links in the chat box.

Stubborn refusal to just use a keyboard for keyboard things aside, the design choice to have bright blue quest text (that tells you the line to type) on top of the bright background that is Il Mehg was non-amazing.

FFXIV is an MMO. Communication is important and a keyboard is pretty much mandatory.

It is not mandatory, you can complete every aspect of the story without so much as saying hello to anyone else. Duty Finder auto matches you, no need to ever actually seek players unless you want to. For side content like FCs and raiding, yes. But my point is aimed towards the most vital bit which is the MSQ.

You are playing a mmo. You should be using a keyboard with your console at least to communicate when not on voice chat. Or get one of those mini controller keyboard attachables if they still make em.

Either way, the /say thing is a poor design decision for a game that sells on console. Sony doesn't include a keyboard with the PS4, SE doesn't indicate that you need one to play the game - you shouldn't be punished with the software keyboard.

Bit of a rant, I guess. It's admittedly a small gripe.

Everyone should have a PC, it's pretty much a necessity in life. A keyboard is maybe free - $15 for a decent one with numpad. Playing an MMO without a keyboard on the side is absurd. How does she even chat?

I don't even care for the /say quest and I'm on PC. Hell at the very least don't make them case sensitive.

This! I was doing a quest the other day that required me to say "investigation" in say chat.

So I type: "Investigation time!" - nothing
I try again.... Nothing
I try a third time making sure I've selected the destination spot.... Still nothing
I try "Investigation!"
Nothing.... I'm getting frustrated... then I think hmmmm
I type: "investigation!" WORKS! >.<
