Also just to clear one thing up...this isn't a review of Shadowbringers. He's not bashing the new expansion, he barely even (if at all) mentions it. Heck this review came out before early access.

While its true that he is only talking about leveling his video is just factually wrong. He complains about how long it takes to level yet he only made it to lvl 48 on ninja then he bought a boost for scholar and went from 60-70. I can get to level 30 on a class in about a day and that's playing casually. From there one would be able to do palace of the dead and get to 50 in another day. Now that Heaven on High is released you can get from 60-70 in a few days (look at all the lvl 70 dancer and gunbreakers). He claims to have been subbed for over 300+ days and this is all the progress he can make. The video is dishonest and people who have not played the game would get the impression it would take over a year to get to max level and get caught up with the main story. The anger toward this content creator is well deserved. His insinuations that the story is super long and boring because they wanted to sell story skips is also absurd, as they were not released until stormblood.

I feel bad for all the ppl who were thinking of trying FFXIV but gave it a pass after watching his review.

Because it is the truth. People don't want to hear about it, but it just shows how the game has devolved to such state, regardless of popular opinion.

Yet popular opinion still thinks that this is the best MMO on the market and has been so for years. I agree with you, although possibly not in the sense you seem to be implying.

That recent thread with the guy complaining about the game being too easy (when he was observed to have not cleared any of the game's harder content) comes to mind.

Regardless of his lack of animosity and apathetic approach to the game, it is a fact that the game keeps devolving and being simplified for the sake of balance. It is a shame, though! Some companies are trying to go back to that old-school feeling certain audiences miss and enjoy. I just wish they would make this game more amusing than just following a given path by the developers.
