I was spamming trials yesterday. I had 3 level 50 trials where I couldn't do rage of halone more than once or twice in sword oath because it'd rip aggro off the main tank. 3 or 4 dps were on the verge of ripping, I did halone once then had to do my incomplete 2 button damage combo. Shirked the main tank, could do halone 3 or 4 times before going back to my 2 button rotation ... it's annoying. These are veteran tanks also, not new guys.

Well of course in DF you aren't going to be getting super skilled tanks. But it is an actual fact that WAR tanking with PLD sitting in sword oath is optimal at level 50, as it gives the most combined damage. The MANY trials my bf & I have tanked together where I couldn't even scratch him post opener regardless of Halone combo usage is a true testament to what an actual veteran WAR can do.

In fact, we just did a fun experiment. He did a full unchained opener on a target dummy, then we tested how many halone combos it'd take me to catch up in sword oath, using only skills you could get at level 50.

It took 12 full halone combos before I took aggro, on top of weaving in spirit's within and circle of scorn when possible, with him not attacking at all beyond the initial unchained window, both full i400 sets. So yeah, WAR king of tanking at 50.

Oh its almost criminal they won't have TP to hold them back soon. War is GREAT on physical bosses just let the war have that unchained opener and there isn't a tank around that's scratching that aggro and they are the safest from most anything a physical boss could possibly do to them. War is probably tied with paladin as my favorite tank and I'm still learning how to properly use its windows. its so much fun when you get it down though!

The only actual hard part there is determining which enemy moves are physical or magical.

Using Addle on a physical attack for example is not going to be much help.

And it's not always obvious which of the two any given move is.

As a tank i don't really have that issue though since Reprisal works on both damage types, but i can understand why that part might confuse people.

Every boss has an Auto Attack so there is literally no reason not to use Feint every time you fight one.

As soon as we start the dungeon one of my friends checks the healers gear and immediately says "Oh no.."



They were trying - it's not like they were a bad healer, but the lack of gear easily took its toll.

It is optimal yes. But I would like the tanks who aren't super skilled to just follow the basics, especially in normal content. Like, healers that don't heal, tanks that don't hold aggro, the community pushes the meta so hard that this is what you find in DF.

It is not a DPS's job to help the tank to hold emnity, it is a damage dealers job to do damage.

Enmity mitigation actions are in your set for a reason.

If you want ignore them because your deeps is the only thing that matters, it explains much why the only duty in the history or ARR in which were requested the DPS role to use a very minimal brain in a MSQ, was the greatest MSQ progression roadblock ever seen in history of MMO's genre, and devs had to nerf the duty to the ground and beyond, in order to let the horde of (DPS) players gated behind it to pass.

Neo right now is indeed a joke with our ilvl. Just need to respect the Grand Cross mechanics and you're home free.
