From all the stats the JP have accumulated, it's been pretty steady between 10 and 15k, so I assume it'll head towards the 10k mark come billing time. Least it's 100,000$ in SE's pocket to help maintain servers and what not.

These forums along with most FFXIV forums are a virtual ghost town. I seriously doubt ALOT of anyone comes here very often.

I agree that a good portion of FFXIV forums such as FFXVIPro, FFXIVCore, FFXIV YG, FFXIV Gamerscape, and the MMORPG FFXIV sub forums are currently ghost towns. Granted some of these forums were made primarily for gathering information for their database and forums as a secondary function. However, BG forums and ZAM forums are still more or less active (much less than before but still somewhat active) with the official forums being active.

But yeah once January 6th hits (unless people who logged on the 5th still get 30 days to post before inactivity kicks in?) then yeah I would say that all of those forums except for one will probably become ghost towns with the sporadic update etc. The only one that may still be "somewhat" active will be the Official Forums, probably not as much as it used to be though.

Oh and on another topic, yeah that person that posted that document link just shows the most recent and not the whole population trend. The keyword here being trend. It does not show the entire population of FFXIV, it just gives a snapshot of what the population is during evening JP hours. Actual JP population (when the snapshot is taken: folks online during that snapshot) is actually lower because they make an addendum to each of the servers on their posts (not on the actual graph) by separating them by language as well.

Actual JP population is much higher because every active Japanese FFXIV player is not online at the time the data is taken.... I'd say at best 1/5th is.

I'll miss my in-game friends that are leaving but besides that I don't really care: It'll mean people wont get trolled on the forums and aside from common belief it wont actually affect in-game population, 90% if not more of the people that are regularly on in Besaid are staying the other 10% will probably come back when 1.21 releases or when 2.0 releases the people that are quitting for good are the trolls who never actually log on...

I'm mostly concerned with the forum posters who don't play the game at all yet feel the need to inject their (worthless) opinion into every single thread just for the sake of raising their post count e-peen.

In fact, I really hope SE decides to de-activate forum accounts for those who aren't paying for and playing the game. That right there would get rid of 90% of the people that rustle my jimmies.
