This is the same community that thought the FFXV crossover was too hard and posted on how to beat it because they sucked so bad LOL. The same community that thought Shinryu NORMAL was tough. These are the individuals that you are dealing with. They need these things because they can't meet dps checks on the Zenos Swords from the solo duty in 4.5.

You underestimate how people don't read job guides, care about optimizing, or even have an inkling as to what their own tooltips tell them. Probably should leave all the help ppl can get to do the quests in this game.

No no no no no, sorry but no.

HP does not make a pet a pet. Garuda and Ifrit have basically been immune to all damage minus stand in front of a tank buster or something bizarre like that. The only thing this change is really and truly effect is Titan Egi. You still have full control over your pet, so might even say more so now since you can't just put Ifrit on Auto. You still have the; Away, Heel, Place, Stay, Guard, Steady, and Sic. You have to command it to do three skills and placement is a thing when using Devotion. If they were dumbing it down it would have just made it auto attack everything with no interaction from the Summoner. Honestly I can maybe count on one hand the number of times Garuda or Ifrit has died in combat over the last two years, and I'm not afraid to cut off fingers.

Make it less clunky to get pets/faeries to cast when you want them too? Sure. But don't take away the core of a pet class. And no, putting their actions on our pet bar does not equal more control over the pets; that is the same "less talent points equals more choices" crap that Blizzard pulled.
That's just the way they chose to solve the pet problems we had until now. In the way the game works, having a pet with an AI delays a lot of your orders, it queues them weirldy, sometimes just skips them. Unless they change the system completely, we can't have good pet management in FFXIV.
We basically have the same controls over the pets, but now they will be instant (and profit the SMN through Ruin 4 procs). That's more efficient, that's it.

Huh? SMN is about the pets? I didn't really notice because it's barely part of the gameplay.

Years and years and years dealing with unresponsive contagions, pets looking like flying potatoes, pets barely being nothing more than autoattack bots that just stood there and that had to be occasionally babysitted with sustain (becoming more of a nuisance than anything).

The dev team starts giving real summons with cool designs like bahamut and phoenix, the latter having a few unique spells on its own.

The community's response: "SMN now won't feel like a SMN because my pet doesn't take damage anymore".

You are only to blame yourselves if SE doesn't take you serious at this point.

Yeah, I agree. If anything, 5.0 SMN improves the focus on pets because you directly control all of its skills now while not having the nuisances they used to have.
The pets themselves still look like hot garbage but they're in a better place now. I'm not going to miss the useless tank-style pet that's not even compatible with SMN's abilities anymore.

    main meet single target:

the pet (not demi), (especially) both dots together and ruin 3

without demi- you still do (slight more than) 3/4 damage

demi damage comes futher down the line..

high end players usally buff demi with party or garuda buffs, ... when solo or less HC, its usally even less impact full compared to the dots, pet and ruin3.. (even if titan pet does less than garuda)

and especially in solo content, you dont end up using demi- too often eitherway.. (those short solo instances or old ex-trails)

but waana do HoH solo with Smn, losing 1/4 over the long run (especially since akmorn is aoe) is probably a lot..

would be good, if they fixed this for titan egi

Sorry for the minor derail but all these points are valid for sch as well. We've been having that argument over in the healer forums every now and agsin.

At easy as pet management was, at least it existed. Now I just have a floating point of origin for a few spells on long cooldown, no management of pet aggro or health, and the class doesn't feel like a pet class any more. I'm not interested in playing it now and am going to try a "regular" class, cause there's no such thing as a pet class in this game now.

i don't get their line of thinking ... did they just not want a pet class to be a thing in FFXIV?
