    you missed the entire point of what this thread was about

    11 did not have 99% of what you are thinking it had at launch

    this is about 11s launch so people can compare it


    and as premium said above, it was a different time, a different age

    and on that same note, i bet if vanilla wow was released today....people would badmouth the hell out of it too and compare it to whatever game woulda had the biggest population if it werent around and so on and so forth


    no game is ever good enough in the eyes of most people(of course some fall even shorter of par for what they should be aiming for)

    Back in (2000?) When XI was released, MMO's were VERY new to the market. EQ Was the only other MMO of note during the time, and it was already getting dated by this time.

    Now a days, we have 2-3 MMO releases a year. With Warhammer, Rift, Age of Conan, World of Warcraft, Aion, DC Universe, City of Heroes, Star Wars the Old Republic ( the list goes on and on and on) There is a LOT more competition. It's not so much pioneering any more. It's an established genre.

    I think XIV's launch was worse.

    There was literally nothing to do but rank up your classes by leves (every 36 hours) and do the....how many was it? 11 mainline quests.

    So basically you did leves, waited 36 hours, and then when you finally repeated that enough times, you could watch 10 minutes of cutscenes.

    EDIT: Oh, and the boring class quests that have nothing to do with anything in the game outside of the quests.

    I remember when Drg had 2hour Call Wyvern and I would spend all my time either in Jeuno waiting for a pt (lol yea right) or going into Kuftal Tunnel to solo crabs to level >.<

    This game has quests, quiet a lot of them for each of the 3 cities. I played 11 and the quests took just about a long as these ones do. Sure there was Eco-Warrior and Escort quests but thoes are no different that CG leves. Those quests also were just as exciting as these ones. Killing tigers for fangs, checking sign posts. The games are fairly identical for the most part. I loved FFXI played it from NA launch till release of 14. And I have played 14 from closed beta till now. I know this game will turn out great even after a first failed launch.

    Those quests were released after the dev team change. I'm talking about release state FFXIV.

    Tarutaru Female's from Sandoria motion has been changed. Seemed their pose was very similar to Nazis motion...

    This was my favorite, great read. lol
