I agree with this, though, they wouldn't have to necessarily come up with something new. They could just recycle the old names and make new designs based on that Esper/Primal's legacy across the series. I'm pretty sure Carbuncle because it's little, will be a staple (although, I hope not), but I'm hoping SE doesn't reuse some stuff. I'd be pretty disappointed if Summoners could just summon all those different Elementals and no Espers/Primals at all. That'd be so sour, to an extent.
Well... "Common" sense isn't all that common anymore, now is it?
Then you didnt read the last update on the other smn thread on page 9 some one brought up this same point and showed the evidence that they are not as powerful as Promathia, Altana, and Zahak. Right in the lore we learn the 12 are only bound to the continent of Eorzea not the whole planet. They would be nothing more then Celestial Avatars would be in 11 in my book *the 12 have back stories as well as the celestials so i would count them equal*
I think the only element really lacking is fire for other summons, they could use Brunhildt (minus the transforming car thing) if they wanted one from a previous FF game, or Belias from XII works too (and is a bit more awesome looking than Brun).
It'll be interesting to see what they choose, Yoshida said they'd definitely be different after all.
I see what you are saying but, what I mean is, the Twelve are Gods. While the Primals are not. The Primals are just incredibly powerful beasts that can be called forth. Avatars/Eidolons in FFXIV would probably be lesser gods. Weaker than the Primals but, like them, they can be called forth. Avatars though would be pets (Couldn't find a good word other than pets) and fight alongside you like in FFXI while the Primals will be summoned and perform one attack, then leave. Then you didnt read the last update on the other smn thread on page 9 some one brought up this same point and showed the evidence that they are not as powerful as Promathia, Altana, and Zahak. Yoshida even said that Summoner's would control 'lesser gods' and The Twelve would not fit that description at all.
Probably due to the fact that Ifrit and Shiva were used in almost all of them as the fire and Ice elemental summons.I think the only element really lacking is fire for other summons, they could use Brunhildt (minus the transforming car thing) if they wanted one from a previous FF game, or Belias from XII works too (and is a bit more awesome looking than Brun).

see that I can agree with I just was thinking u were bring up same argument as the other person :P so thank you for atleast reading and filling in the explanation![]()
Are they even going to add a summoner class?
No clue were just jumping the gun and making noise in hopes that were all heard :P other then the jobs we have and the class changes in 1.21 no other jobs are known were just hoping
If they do it would be interesting if, not having each of the gods as a summon, having a primal battle with a servant of each of the gods (eg. Halone would have a primal servant, Menphina would have another and then for summoners they would each drop a different staff that lets you summon a specific primal (the one you beat) Also the primals should fit the gods (eg. Menphina's primal would be something cute like a moogle as shes the Lover god and when you summon it it heals or buffs you...
