...what would this thread be without AV, right?
I can tell you that my leveling roulettes would be nicer without it - but apparently we cant have nice things, so we got AV today. With two people who I'm pretty sure bought jump potions, a warrior and a summoner.
The first weird thing: generally speaking, it went smooth - pulls were okay, bosses went okay, everything fine...
EXCEPT that this tank had a slight... missunderstanding off cooldowns. He rarely used them and especially ignored Rampart. Slightly annoying, so I complained to my boyfriend about this and just in that very second the warrior used Rampart! Hooray! ...well, or it would have been "Horray!" if that hadnt also been the very second the last mob of that pack had died, so it went completly to waste. Sure, that can happen... once... but the warrior proceeded to use rampart between pulls or just when the last mob died. Not once was it actually useful. It drove me insane, had me raging and my boyfriend dying from laughter, because he did it which such a reliability - all mobs dead? Better pop rampart!
(That he also used overpower on singletargets and burnt through his TP faster than one could throw goad his way was just a little detail at this point)
Joined a mentor roulette in progress, 7 minutes in. As always I wondered why the other healer bailed, and quickly found out why. The WAR wasn’t securing hate on all mobs, just the one he initially pulled. So of course the other ones aggro me. Our MNK sees this and rips two mobs off of me. But the one still on me kept interrupting my casts, so my poor MNK hero died, followed by myself. I said “Now I see why the other healer left. Please secure hate on all mobs ASAP.” He replied “the other healer left because they couldn’t handle healing.”
As I processed this he pulled the first boss when I was only about halfway there, so I just left.
WTH is with all these new people who are so aggressive and rude? I usually try to be helpful in trials and such, because there have been so many brand new people lately, so I call out mechanics as they happen, and every other one I get this one person who is completely new who takes offense at being told what to do because they watched a guide. Pretty sure my experience running this trial 50 thousand times is more accurate than your misunderstanding of a youtube video. And then the whole party wipes twice to their ridiculous mistakes, because they are so confident in their "abilities." What is this called.... dunning kruger effect?
I mean sure, I'm not saying everything in saccharine overtones, since I'm typing the instructions as I am doing the mechanics, I don't have time to say more than "watch his arms for which side he hits"... If I have to use Healer LB3 twice in Seiryu normal, something is wrong.
Oh boy, I just found this thread today. Quite a bit of fun and relatable instances going on xD
Here's my tale~
It was not long after 4.0 dropped, I que'd as a BLM for Bardam's Mettle (oh you know something's gonna go down in this place with noobs) for some exp. I had experience with the dungeon already, but most likely not everyone did. I joined a group with a DRK and WHM who seemed to be a pair that knew each other, and a random SAM. I'm pretty sure we wiped at least twice before the first boss... typical for others new to this place, right?
The tank blamed myself and the SAM for stealing aggro, and had this snappy attitude about it. Tank says, "Stop single targeting and stealing aggro, you're making it harder for the healer to heal me" The SAM says, "We were just doing AoE's", which we were. The tank then had some very unwarranted advice to give, with a bad attitude. I gave one sarcastic response, I don't remember what it was... this was back when 4.0 was fresh <_<. Anyway before the boss, after drama ensued between us and the Tank, the SAM left because the Tank was just being hard-headed and really pissy. We got a replacement pretty soon, of couse; I explained the situation to the replacement and off we went to fight the first boss finally. I said something like, "Don't worry we can tank the boss", but not with bad intentions or attitude at all, purely as a joke, and I think I might've struck a nerve. The rep SAM and I went into the boss area and the Tank/Healer just backed out and let us die.
We weren't happy, and realized exactly how pissed off the Tank was about us playing the way we were, which was the way you should be playing >.>
The Sam rep had this ingenious and sinister plan to get back at them. We all got to the boss area again, and all of us actually started the fight, however I noticed the SAM was just hovering near the entrance; instinctively, I knew exactly what he had in mind. He was going to leave at the last second to let the Tank and Healer get sealed in. I was all for it, as I joined him and we both left the fight just as the entrance was sealed. It was the ultimate revenge.
The SAM then just left the fight, but I stayed to watch. I noticed that the DRK wasn't doing the best in his/her rotations, so as a DRK main myself, I began to intellectually give unsolicited advice throughout the fight, as he/she was pressing on us throughout the dramatic start of the dungeon. It was hard to watch, but felt satisfying somehow, and they finally defeated the boss. After that, the loot that dropped was a BLM piece, which I needed... so I cheered once I got the gear they took so long working to get. However, after I obtained the gear, I was dropped from the dungeon. I don't know if I was kicked somehow with only two other players there, or if the timer just ran out due to me not pressing yes on the "recruit more players" prompt I received after the second SAM left, but that was that.
Sounds like you got a wife/husband healer tank combo who encourage each other in their bad playstyle... I'm so glad doing that now is reportable as it's considered griefing to intentionally not participate. You definitely got kicked lol. You gave em what they gave to you and then they got pissed about it. Classic.
I don't know what on what planet this is acceptable gear for Doma Castle, but my healer isn't having a good time.
At least they are pulling small with that gear on..
