I see people hating on Dragoon's AF1 armor for females.

I've been wearing that armor exclusively since ARR, and made it even "skimpier" by using a subligar. Exposed belly, exposed thighs, idgaf because this is a fantasy game and we're all protected by magical shields that let us wear anything we want. The amount of people who just stop and pause beside me on a daily basis is still surprisingly high. That said I don't wear it for attention. I wear it because it looks awesome imo, and it's one of the best AF gears for me personally.

Oh, and I was the original Blood Dragoon. Estinien stole that look from me....He's still awesome though.

The new Scholar AF is really really ugly. Best SCH AF is 4.0. But when it comes to AF gear, usually I like the look of some pieces but not the rest.

    4.0 - Don't care.
5.0 - Will need to see with Baron Helm.

    RDM
    - 4.0 - Love it.
    - 5.0 - Swag cape.

    SMN
    - 2.0 - Meh
    - 3.0 - Better than 2.0 but not great.
    - 4.0 - Kinda in the middle of 2 and 3.
    - 5.0 - Basically a better version of 2.0. Still meh but a better meh.

    SAM
    4.0 - Love it
5.0 - Not bad but not better than 4.0

    AST
    3.0 - Love it
    4.0 - Love it more.
    5.0 - Meh

    WHM

2.0 - I am all for skimpy designs but this was a bit silly. 3/5
3.0 - Ruined by the hilariously oversized wings. 2/5
4.0 - Easily the hands down winner. It's sharp and iconic without going overboard. 4/5
5.0 - Shows promise, though I'm not a fan of the tail. Will have to see it in-game to give a final verdict. 3/5

    Ninja
2.0 - While a nice set overall, I never particularly cared for it. Bit too baggy. 3/5
3.0 - Solid design. It fixes the small issues I had with its predecessor and keeps to a more simple look. I rather like it. 4/5
4.0 - One of my favourite AF sets, period. The designs are intricate without being too flamboyant, and it keeps to a Ninja vibe. 5/5
5.0 - Looks good so far but I'll need to see how it fits on females before saying one way or another.

    Warrior
2.0 - Bit boring. There doesn't seem to be much flair or... anything going on with it. Not a bad design just... boring. 2/5
3.0 - Far too bulky for my taste. I also really dislike the aesthetic even if it fit. 1/5
4.0 - Now this outfit I rather dug. It ditches the bulkiness for a cleaner more refined look while keeping the style. 4/5
5.0 - Bit on the fence here. It certainly looks like an improvement from 2.0 but the random coat flap seems... odd. Have to see it in-game. 3/5

    Dark Knight
3.0 - In a word? Awesome. Even if it is on a the bulky side for me, everything about it just works. 4/5
4.0 - I absolutely adore this set. If I had a single nitpick, it'd be that capes are ruined due to tail clipping but that's a non-issue on my Hyur! 5/5
5.0 - While I can't yet rave about it, it does look pretty snazzy. 4/5

It's hard to say until I get the 5.0 ones in game, buuuuut...

    PLD
2.0: Okay but I don't particularly like it.
3.0: Worst one for me. A bit over designed.
4.0: Best one of the lot for PLD for me.
5.0: Seems good, but a bit too similar to 4.0 and with a goofier looking shield so it's a slight step back.

    Ninja:
2.0: Good but the sexy legs/cleavage are kinda distracting for me. I know that seduction was part of being a kunnoichi and all but that doesn't mean it translates to armor design.
3.0 Great ninja set. Better looking than 2.0.
4.0. and 5.0: Seems alright but doesn't really scream 'ninja' to me either if that makes sense.

    Red Mage
    4.0 Best artifact set ever.
5.0 Somehow even better than 4.0.

    Dragoon:
2.0: Would be perfect if not for the 'stab me here' window the female set inexplicably has over its belly.
The rest: Okay, but not great.

    Monk:
    2.0 Good.
    3.0 Ehhhh...
    4.0: Really good.
5.0 Not sure yet need to see it on my character, but probably good.

    Black Mage
    2.0/3.0 Good
4.0 What am I looking at?
    5.0: Looks good again.

White mage and ast have been consistently 'nice' for me.

SCH and SMN I've never liked their sets.

Note regarding the complaints about sexy armor: I don't mind revealing sets necessarily, like monk's stormblood set, what irks me is when most of an outfit is heavy armor, but then leaves windows open for no particular reason. Dancer and monks are not heavily armored sets so they don't really irk me in the same way. These sets are also exposing for both genders instead of full armor on male and just throwing in a fanservice window on the female version.

I don't mind skimpy armor in principle, but it does irk me when it's only for one gender or the other (almost always skimpy on female normal on male when this happens) and it's supposed to be actual armor.

The monk af3 and dancer afs don't bother me for being skimpy, but when a set is supposed to be armor, adding a 'stab me here' window on a set with chainmail or plate armor for only one gender is irksome. Not a big enough deal to boycott the game or anything but just a shame, the dragoon af1 would look so much better without the belly window.

I think that if they do it, they should do it either for both genders or none personally

    BLACK MAGE

ARR: Fun initially, but I'm bummed by how it dyes when augmented tbh. I'd be much more excited if I could get it all truly black without the brighter purple-y bits.

HW: Love it to pieces, particularly the hat and gloves. Gloves in particular if you wear them with something with wide sleeves it just looks like you have metal claws and that is stupid fun imo. The pants I've never liked but they're easily substituted.

SB: I know some people like it but I was not into this gear. I like big hats and high collars, I have been wanting to accomplish the classic black mage look with a blue coat and a yellow hat. The shapes on the hat, the feathers, the green bits, the overall tone to me didn't feel versatile in the way I was looking for. It reminds me a bit of cactaurs and piñatas. Of course neither of these are bad things by any means, they're just extremely specific and not really the tone I was after.

    SHB:
I think it seems promising, hat's a bit small. I definitely want to see how it dyes. Like the diamonds and dapper feel.
