Maybe rather than a chopping off the tail no matter what you're wearing, have a cmd essentially like /visor on certain skirts/dresses etc to hide the tail for the really bad offenders

OH, how about a compromise! Keep the tail just give the option to have a bob cat tail!

Some people are gonna have a preference for the way certain outfits look on certain races over others. There is also always going to be clipping in this game, it is what it is. Hands and hair clip also, and personally long hair clipping though gear is the most egregious offender to me, so I just choose not to wear long clippy hair.
I’m not in favor of removing race features. Literally ears and tail are what makes aura and miqote not hyur. Maybe they should just include the option to make every single race just look like a hyur just in case anyone ever feels their gear doesn’t look right on their race. I mean maybe an elezen feels too tall and thin in a certain outfit or a roe too bulky or a lala too short etc. but no they don’t want to Fantasia, they just want to remove their racial identity for that one outfit. IMO things should stay as they are as we already have the means to deal with it; play a different race or wear a different outfit or ignore the clipping.

I have thought long and hard, and I really am going to fantasia to Viera partly due to the bad tail clips. Especially due to that chocobo outfit I mentioned earlier. *shudders*

My bald hyur gets his arms clipping a lot with those fancy robes they added in Stromblood, can i have an option to hide my arms?

Short answer: no
Long answer: heck no

I play an Au Ra no way would I want to lose my horns or tail they are defining characteristics of the race that you don't just turn off and on.
My friend and I were talking about this and he made the following 'statement':
[Suggestion] Design gear to accommodate for racial characteristics.
Radical idea, I know. But quite frankly it's preposterous that this skeleton of a suggestion is dragged out of the closet every now and again, instead of requesting something that should, to be honest, go without saying.
Disregarding ShB, we have 6 races - out of which 4 have some sort of permanent "fixture" on their bodies that are "not human": elezen ears, miqote ears and tail, aura horns and tail, and while they're a category of their own anyway, lalafell also have non-human ears. That's two thirds of what they themselves created and made available to play as - and that's the raw facts, without even taking a look at the overall racial distribution (data they do have).
And here we are, for the umpteenth time, trying to suggest this workaround, because it's more convenient/plausible than asking the team to take those specific characteristics into consideration when designing gear? It's ironic and ridiculous.
What we should ask for, instead, is that at least design outfits that are glamour only to accommodate for racial specifics. It doesn't have to be anything overly elaborate and fancy, a minimal effort would go a long way in making them a lot more appealing: take a look at how atrocious the Ao Dai and the Taoist's Shirt are when it comes to tail, and then take a look at how the Pagos Gaskins handle them.
Needless to say, this is all valid for cash shop outfits as well.
I agree on this, at least the the glam-gear should accommodate the tails, the ears/horns... Well idunno... Not even sure how that would work.
As a Lala my ears stick out 'weird' in some helmets, while some don't even show them (for example the scion traveler's mask shows pointy ears on the sides, while the rain hood does not). Though imo ears in hoods is less 'annoying' (to me) then the tail clipping. I played miqo'te and au ra shortly but I couldn't deal with the clipping. Some 'old' gear accommodates for tails with a small bow or something. I'm guessing most ARR gear was taken from 1.0 (which I played shortly, my machine was not happy to run it), but also back then I was a lala, so no tails.
Anyways, hiding tails (or ears/horns) would seem strange for me (though it would make sense in the princess dress from mogstation I suppose, even hands hide in that poofy skirt, who thought of this /shrug), but accommodating them, how they used to be able to do in gear would be a big /thumbsup. Not sure why they decided to stop doing that, too much work perhaps? One can only guess I suppose![]()
