The audience here typically is not open to things like this, a lot of the replies here PROVES it. The discussion about this topic literally ended several pages ago where clarification was made and final thoughts had been expressed. Things as they are now are being regurgitated or is straight up nonsense being piled on (i.e., like our literal argument) but act like there's still a discussion going on if you want to lmfao.

I agree with your first part though. Fools will be fools. But I don't think it's necessary to allow fools to continue to add their irrelevant two cents in a matter long closed. Nor do I agree with the continuous bashing of OP. What else is there to discuss if things are already wrapped up?

The official forum absolutely should be the place where this kind of discussion can be held - where Square Enix officials can see it being discussed, and perhaps make an official statement on it if they think public opinion is warranted. (Granted, they don't often do that, but sometimes they do. And there's more potential for it here than on some other site.)

Clearly some people here are open to the discussion, so again, saying "this thread should be locked because the people on the forum don't want to debate it" makes no sense. Clearly they do.

Yeah see, some of this would hold water if A.) The issue wasn't already addressed by the team who made the choice to do what they did and started the issue (see: some pages back, so this issue has already been gleaned and discussed, the name changed, as what was discovered some pages back). And B.) by the time I had commented that this thread should be locked, conversation had already been had, and like I said, comments were made to wrap this all up in a neat little bow.

The conversation now is clearly going around in a circle. If you still think what is happening now is in any way productive to the main issue, well then, idk what to tell you.

Yeah and that's the thing, like someone else said, the "discussion" part of this thread was over the moment Alcoholic_Beverage made their post and OP made some posts after and they talked and all of that stuff. Really was no reason for this thread to stretch out all the way to page 17.

Actually this was addressed in the Korean live letter. The issue wasn't the outfit itself, and to compare the outfit with the nazi uniform is fallacious and will mislead others to believe the same. The crux of the issue was the name of the outfit which was called "Taisho Roman outfit" by the FFXIV Chinese team. That term "taisho roman" (roman is shortened for romantic) is to romanticize/glorify the era of the taisho period during which the Japanese were oppressing the Koreans. That was the issue and what sparked outrage to some Korean players because it felt like that the taisho era was romanticized and used to market the outfit, not the kimonos itself which is a varied style of kimonos which both Japanese civilian and Korean students (forced) had to wear. The issue was the name that was tied to it--to which the Chinese team apologized and promised it wouldn't happen again. And as you can see the names for these outfits has been changed to "Far Eastern" instead of be being kept as "Taisho Roman" which was the original intended name in the Chinese servers. The devs are very well aware I'm sure which is why it was changed to Far Eastern. A. 중국 공식 SNS에서 일부 유저 분께서 오해하실 만한 표현이 사용된 점에 대해서는 중국 운영팀에도 경위를 설명하고 향후 재발이 없도록 약속해 주셨습니다. 참고로 해당 아이템의 정식 명칭은 글로벌판 모든 언어와 중국판, 한국판 모두 '동방 사생 의상', '동방 유학생 의상'입니다.

tldr; Chinese FFXIV team used a controversial term to market the outfit, sparked outrage to some Korean players which was later addressed in the Korean PLL. Chinese team apologized and promised it won't happen again, and the outfits names were changed and referred to as Eastern Student or Far Eastern outfit for all versions of the game.
