At one point I'm gonna scrap my mobo because it only has 1 PCIe 16x slot - and in the long run I wanna run two 6850's in Crossfire. For the time being I'm just gonna get a single 6850 and run that. I've taken a lot out of this thread and did a ton of research. I understood most things when I built this machine to an extent, but because of this thread and the needs of FFXIV I really got the idea of a 'modern gaming machine'. Thanks a lot for all the help.

I may upgrade other things based upon all the advice, but the consensus seems to be the GPU being the biggest set back. Although I thought the dual core 3.2GHz CPU was nice ( since 3.2GHz sounds nice ), cpubenchmark really does have it's performance scored low for one reason or another.

all u need is a better graphics card period. though u most likely need a new power supply to support that graphics card.
you do not need better than a Dual core processor for this game its pointless.

That's the exact conclusion I just came to when I typed my last response lol. Now I'm really confident in that, thanks.

Moving to a 6850 is overkill for that cpu and youll need a better psu but if you plan on upgrading the cpu/mb later and keeping the gfx seems a good choice. I recomend you get a psu from a decent brand specialy if you planning on CF later on. Seasonic/Corsair/Antec/XFX with 650/750w for a quadcore/6850 CF should be ok.

    6450 isn't really a gaming card.

    did you buy it prebuilt?

Your wrong it does support it but for CF to work you gotta run the game in Fullscreen.

and the dual core processor has nothing to do w/ it this game only uses one and its more than enough.
Nah I explained how my build came to be earlier in the thread. Earlier everyone was saying a Quad Core was pivotal for FFXIV's architecture.

I was reading up on 400W's working fine for a 6850 since my build is pretty bare bones ( not much power is being consumed ) and the 6850 uses way less than that under full load. I may grab a $30 500W just to be safe though, no big deal.

MY PSU actually has the 6 prong connector. I was reading up on 400W's working fine for a 6850 since my build is pretty bare bones ( not much power is being consumed ) and the 6850 uses way less than that under full load. I may grab a $30 500W just to be safe though, no big deal.
127w power draw so you should be fine with that psu. Check the +12v rail Amps to be safe but its prolly a decent 400w PSU since cheap brands with that kind of wattage dont bring the 6pin plug.
