    Holy Moley I was just wondering if anyone did so they could explain their set up. I don't have Dual Core Computers and I can't help you.

    Don't be so touchy.

    Using your current set up with a Quad Core will go a long way, and when 2.0 hits you will still see the benefits of it. Multi-Core Processing is here to stay.
    In 2.0 you will be treated with more characters on screen with that a better CPU.

    @ Anti-Aliasing - Use application settings
    can you change the 'use application settings' to off or disable? Sorry not too familiar with CCC

    I think even with a i7 with your current GPU you're not gonna have great numbers

    That's a good question. No, if you uncheck Use Application settings within CCC, then the lowest setting is 2X.

    Well then thank you for bumping the thread? lol. I think you can understand my misunderstanding of the context you said it in:

    I thought you were suggesting that no one playing FFXIV utilized a Dual Core CPU. I apologize.

    A few things;

    The intel dual core series is the budget series now. That is not a very good processor. Look where it ranks:
    http://www.cpubenchmark.net/mid_range_cpus.html

    (*note, thats in the MIDRANGE CPU category) Its not even in the top 100 processors on the market atm.
    This is the first page of processors: http://www.cpubenchmark.net/high_end_cpus.html your CPU doesn't fall anywhere near the top) You should have gone with an i3 at least. Even the worst i3 would triple what you have now for like $30 more.

    RAM: What speed is your RAM running at? you neglected to mention it. Speed is more important than quantity these days. Nobody ever really uses 4gb actively. If its below 1600mhz, its not even remotely new. RAM runs upwards of 2200mhz now. Im betting your machine is running 1333 or even 800 if you didn't buy decent ram. Since 4GB is your max ram, I will assume the later.

    Hard drive: 1TB (Size) means nothing. Again its speed that determines performance. You should have opted for a smaller (60 or 90GB Solid State Drive)for your OS and FFXIV and a secondary drive for storage (500gb)

    Thats why your machine isn't performing very well.

    Tbh, its not very good. You have a pretty bad gaming rig.

    In the end, for the same price you could have easily doubled what you have now if you had done some more research.

    I don't really want to be mean but these are very low end parts and XIV has extremely high requirements. You need to buy at least on the upper side of the value spectrum to run it well. You say you put this together a few months ago, but that processor is 3 generations old (Core 2 -> Nehalem -> Sandy Bridge). The video card is also at the extreme bottom end and isn't designed for modern gaming. I can't speak to the FPSes you've been playing but it's no surprise that other MMOs run fine since most are designed to run on anyone's computer to maximize their subscriber base.

    Unfortunately, since you were roped into buying a completely obsolete system you won't be able to upgrade to completely modern parts without replacing your motherboard (yours will only support Core 2 processors) and RAM (newer systems use DDR3, yours is most likely DDR2). It looks like higher end Core 2 Quad processors are no longer available as Core 2 is treated as a low end budget line now, so it may be hard to find a straight upgrade there. Your best bet is to start by upgrading the video card, since modern cards should still run perfectly fine on your board.

    XIV 2.0 will be using a new engine that's better optimized to run on lower end hardware, however I think your current system is too weak to expect it to run well even then.

    Your graphics card is insanely awful lol my Radeon HD 5770 outperforms it by a huge margin and my card costs about 50$ now? was £100 when i got it 2years ago.

    You card scores a 367 on PassMark, I think my laptop does higher than that lol

    And yes your CPU also is very bad, it scores a low 2k on Passmark, where as a cheap Phenom Quad would bench a nice 6k and cost about $80 (or less XD) lol

    To avoid binning ur motherboard, you should try invest in better cpu/gpu.

    My brother I setup with;
    - Phenom II X4 Quad Core 960T
    - Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 6790 1024MB

    Runs the game on Max 1080p, 8x AA, everything high but with depth of field and ambient occlusion turned off at 60fps. Windowed.
