I've beaten Good King Moggle Mog with the exploit that got fixed in 1.20a. Am I going to be banned for this or not? I would like to know now, not a year from now after I've paid for the game and sunk more time into it. Thanks.

Mah story: Square Enix sells me a dinky Onion Helm for $50. I play FFXIV for a year despite it being shitty, incomplete, and completely devoid of customer support. I make some cool friends, and garner a lot of hate because some people can’t see the difference between a casual game and a difficult job. I stick through the sometimes unbearable content, nurturing my cute little Lalafell into the awesome warrior you see before you. I never botted, I never cheated, and I never did anything that I thought was against the ToS. Then one day, I go ham against a party of Moogles, utilizing a game mechanic that's existed for a very long time. Some shitty Linkshell complains that I cheated and should be banned. I call them out on how shitty they are and ask Square for an official word on the matter. All the reps must have been on their week off because nobody said anything. I'm finally told, through patch notes, that I was actually taking advantage of a bug: Moogles CAN see, even with their eyes closed. I think about the time my girlfriend was banned from FFXI on her first day, because somebody in her Linkshell gave her 50k and that made her an RMT. I go on the forums and read about how SE will ban you selectively, SE will ban you months after an incident, SE will wait until they have your money before they ban you, and SE will ban you without telling you why and not bother to hear your defense. “Oh no, SE is totally crazy!” I seek to know right away whether or not they would ban me, because this is a matter of life and death. I message a GM, because they are there to help me. They tell me that they don’t actually do anything besides style their Judge’s Armor, and forward me to the Lodestone. Upset with their lack of support, I make another lengthy forum thread and get the popcorn.

Square Enix,

This is one of the few reasons why I won’t care if I get banned. If you want to mess me over on customer support and be vague about something like this, then I think I want to be vague on whether or not I will put any more money into your product. If you're going to ban me, then ban me right now. And if you're not going to ban me, then come out and say so, because you're not going to ban me a year from now after I spend even more time and money on this game. Make up your minds and deliver an answer that you are not afraid to let all your customers see. Til den, I be doin what it do. Peace.

I hope you get banned so you find something much more worthwhile and less painful to do.

I can only assume if every 3rd person with a crafting bot still plays, and they dont seem to care about the 30 taru rmt parties that blatantly run around in front of everyone doing their thing, you should be good. And the GMs job in this game is to play TOR on another computer while they sit around waiting for that one person a week that gets stuck in part of the map; then its their time to shine!!!

I dont think you'll get banned because the GM service sucks and im not even sure if it exists plus the obvious one, there's like 100 people playing the game so its unlikely they will ban a huge % of that who are willing to pay.

Look at botters, people so blatant with it and they never get banned.

Infact I am now 100% sure the banning system is probably broken and the GM's get told "we'll get it fixed for v2!"

I can't answer if you will get banned or not. Honestly at this stage it doesn't really matter to me personally if the people who exploited the moogle bug aren't punished. I think there is a big difference in salvage duping and a strat in a BC that works because the developers never considered that option when they wrote the fight. Also there is a difference between someone who stops doing it once they say its a bug and someone who keeps doing it in spite of that fact.

I wanted to point out that SE does have a customer support mechanism in place for people to challenge certain types of ban, its just a pain to go through. I know someone who had to do it after an issue arose with a service charge being challenged on their credit card. The TOS does clearly outline a mechanism for resolving disputes between you and SE. I can see these things taking months simply because they are a lower priority for SE than other issues that require investigation or customer service time. I mean if someone did cheat why should SE go out of its way to worry about their convenience as opposed to that of people who play by the rules?

When i started FFXI a dude from LS gave me 100k and i didn't get banned or a tell from a GM at least and i was a taru, the classic RMT .

And for those of you asking, I don't "move on" cause if everyone just moved on SE would be out a lot of money. I ruuuv dis gaem, some people just make it so difficult though.

I've exchanged large amounts of gil (far greater than 100k) between several accounts & with friends on XI and have never had any issues with GMs, bannings, etc.

I got 10k from a jp galka in dangruf wadi on the day of ffxi release, traded over 4m and various +1 items to friends when I was on break and etc, never been banned for it. Also claim botted and gm tool'd through sea/sky doors as well but yeah....
