I usually like Bioware games and im a huge ME fan but I do not like the animation at all in SWTOR, I dont like the graphics too much, it even suffers from XIV copy/pasta in some areas but it has content, it has things you can do and its quite well polished. Look at Minecraft, think about the the graphics, think about the content, its far below XIV but it solid millions and is a huge franchise now, just goes to show you dont always need the big half broken guns you just need to provide something fun.

But I do find it insanely sad that people bitch over games all the time, its like people have to favor one game over another, do you know that is? Its religion! Its a bit pathetic imo, why cant people enjoy life and enjoy different types of entertainment. Mystery.

Take a look at MMO forums like massively and mmorpg. Plenty of trolls and dissatisfied players there who agree with me.

The game will do fine, and maybe that type of gameplay is your thing. But it doesn't appeal to all MMO players, and even among those it does appeal I doubt it will meet its mark of success, especially for a demanding publisher like EA. I expect it to be cannibalized and made freemium w/ a cash shop within a year or two.

FFXIV had worse problems, but luckily doesn't have a publisher like EA behind it. So that said I'm much more confident in the future of XIV than I am in TOR.

Even FFVIII animation loops have heaps of personality and give the characters depth compared to XIV's utterly paralysed quest givers.

IE: I ate this flavor of soup once and didnt enjoy it all that much. I dont periodicly purchase that soup to see if I may like it this time. I know I didnt like it and its not for me. There are several different flavors out there to try and find one I do like.
Again I am not bashing the game or quitting because of all the issues that its had. I am leaving because I dont enjoy the game. Is that so hard to believe. If there were anything at all that I disliked about FFXIV its these forums. There is so much negitivity here about the game, about things they have announced and people havent even tried yet. Heck people were bitching about CNJ only having one heal a month before it was even released. Then there was the BLK and WHT mage complainers. How about the guy crying about PL'ing even when Yoshi said it stays..
But hey im not leaving because of any of that. Plain and simple. I DONT LIKE THE GAME.
    Thanks.
PS. Maybe SW wont be around forever but im enjoying it. If Not I will move on to something else I may enjoy. Not return to something I didnt..
thats all thats left on these forums, flamers/haters/trolls.

Goodbye Kira, thanks for giving the game a shot.

Its a game people, if he/she doesn't like it they can go play something else, its their right/choice.

(now flame me for defending her/him cause thats all anyone here really wants to do)

I played since closed beta, and own a copy that was gifted to me.

I also have money invested in EA. They have a pretty predictable business model. You can easily take a look and see what they've done with studios and IP's that performed under expectations in the past.

Bioware games, and Old republic games in particular have never been about gameplay, it is the story. Unfortunately, I thought the story in TOR was very poor for an RPG, MMO, or even compared to recent Bioware releases like Dragon Age 2 (which also had a pretty awful story). I'm not sure if they fired all the writers when EA bought them or what, but hearing some voice actor they paid fifty dollars an hour read some lame dialogue is not really a step up from having it flash on the screen so I can click next and ignore it.

They should have spent less on voice actors, and a little more on some real writers in my opinion. Then at least they would have something of substance to hang their hat on.

You leaving is understood and people should not pressure you to stay. If i wasn't so lazy, I would leave too. Just that i get comfortable and don't want to spend another year re-learning another game. That being said, I am near to my end with this game. When the biggest fun is running around throwing snowballs, it's kinda hard to be a cheerleader for this game. The fights are ridiculous, the drops are equally and the crafting system still sucks. I am down to one person in vent besides me trying to figure out what to do each day. Good thing my two boys play, because the thee of us make or break the party when it comes to getting a group of 8 to do anything. Go and enjoy other things and dont be bothered by people who only want to slow you down or hold you back.

I agree the writing in TOR isn't going to win any awards, but it's a whole hell of a lot better than what we have. The story in this game is shallow and cliched. The presentation is circa 1990 when people could be bothered to read some embarrassingly corny dialogue coming from the usual cast of characters in a Final Fantasy game. Say what you will, but if TOR did one thing it made story a big part of the game. In comparison, FFXIV's story is nearly non-existant beyond the sparse main story quests.

I'd rather just get to the gameplay than listen to some poorly written trash spouted by a voice actor I could have sworn I already heard before on another planet. Unless it is SWTOR I guess, then there is no rush since that is even more disappointing.

Also XIV has dialogue. I think most of it is better than TOR's, which is pretty sad considering our localization team has writers that are probably paid half of what Bioware/EA pays their original content writers (assuming they actually pay people specifically for writing, and don't relegate the writing to the interns or janitorial staff as you would guess listening to some of it).
