In another interview he said "We thought: “Why add more handsome races… even if we do, the biggest difference will be the ears…”. So seems like he thinks they would just be Elezen with bunny ears.

So less "it's going to be this way" and more "we thought about it and floated these ideas"

If they ever implement them you I'd bet this will be revisited and rehashed.
