Good story time: Running Shisui last night to hit 65 on my WHM. After running it a few times I've gotten fairly comfortable healing it, and getting some decent DPS in. Had a DRK tank that literally must have had the absolute perfect cooldown rotation ever.

Right before the last boss I had to pause and say "I don't know if i like healing DRK's anymore, I feel useless. But on the other hand I can DPS for days"

Right after that thought, I jumped into Bardam's and was one the edge of my seat nervous the entire last boss fight because there sure is some party wide damage that goes out there. That ones going to take a few runs to feel comfortable in.

Bradams Mettle adds hit very hard, especially if you're in leveling gear. It HIGHLY depends on what gear you and especially the tanks have. Some tanks don't care that much about updating their gear regularely and that makes healer... quiver in fear.

Cheremia dont forget to add that some tanks dont even use their cool downs as well as low level gear. Hell it's even hard to heal when they're at lvl for gear and the healer is in max stat gear and they dont use the cool downs... stupid bird with its wind dot.

Yeah, that final boss was a constant "Medica II...welp there's another hit guess I'll tetra the tank...oh Flutterfall again...we're close enough for Cure 3 nice!...oh everyone just got hit again sighhhhhh"

I've heard the same thing, when I tell healers to dps - and I tell them not suggest it (they sit there and do nothing until I need a heal). I think it comes from tanks who just want to be topped off the entire time, makes them feel better about themselves.

Which really confuses me. Like, wouldn't you expect a tank to feel better about themselves if they can keep themselves up with no healer intervention?
Personally, I've actually seen it coming the most from DPS. Usually the bad ones who'd probably get out-DPS'd if they didn't bully the healers into not trying.
Sigh... I need to finish that "beginner's guide to jobs" thing I've been working on... And let all the sprouts know they can and should DPS...

TBH Bardam hits hard no matter your gear. I've been in there in full Savage tanking gear and it's still probably the most painful dungeon. It just... gets even worse when people run in there with unaugmented Hellfire...

So while we're sharing more Bardam's Mettle stories....

Queued as summoner, got Bardam's with a paladin, a white mage, and a samurai. Things are going okay, tank's doing single packs, but whatever, if I wanted to set the pace I'd tank myself. Get to the first boss, the healer gets marked for a charge....and doesn't move, then dies immediately. I hit Swiftcast and raise him, mana shift once he's up......he gets targeted again, doesn't move again, and dies again. Hard cast another raise....and then the samurai dies. So I raise him.....and he doesn't take it. Just stays down for the rest of the fight. And then the healer dies again. I have never seen that fight last long enough to use Swiftcast three times before, but I guess when one DPS is eating the floor and the other is playing rez bot, leaving the paladin as tank and healer....

We scrape through that somehow, drag ourselves to the second boss. Healer doesn't even both trying to do the mechanics, just sits still and gets chained every time. Sigh. Samurai seems to be trying but still gets two out of three fails.

Shockingly the final boss went more-or-less okay. The sam tried to LB the boss right as it used its gaze attack, lost it to the hysteria, and then never bothered trying again, so at least I could use it on the wings. Had to give the tank a hug after that run (and a comm, of course).

I queued up to level my WAR and got dropped into Tam Tara with a RDM who hardcast Veraero/Thunder, an AST who kept pulling before I had a chance to Tomahawk or Overpower mobs and a new Bard who thought Quick Nock was their only ability, even on single targets.
I tried to talk to the Bard but everytime I would start to type something, the other two would just go ahead an pull before I could say anything or even let the new Bard catch up to us.
They ended up throwing up a ready check while the Bard was still in the cutscene before the final boss. I was quite surprised they didn't run in and start attacking it.

Oh and the RDM and AST were a couple who had a few other classes to 70 including tanks.

I guess this is why people are discouraged from tanking so much.

You'd think. I've seen tons of tanks complain if their health drops below much less than max, and I've seen healers just straight up tell me, "it's not my job" when they are told to DPS a bit. If a DPS is taking damage, they should look at what exactly they are doing that is making them take damage, unless it's guaranteed like boss aoe or something, they shouldn't be taking damage at all, or need the healer!

Was doing an expert roulette on my whm a few days ago. Was happy to see a full bis pld (omega western, the whole 9 yards). After the first mass pull he cries about about me throwing regen on him mid pulls so I just go "lol what?". He rounds up the 2nd mass pull and goes "i asked nicely" and proceeds to stand there and do nothing leaving me and the dps to tank it. In between holy stuns and healing myself mixed with a small bit of kiting I couldn't help but chime "whm tank > full bis pld? LOL" as we cleared the pact fairly easily. He dips once all the mobs are dead lol. Talk about entitled salt. And I'm a pld main my self ffs
