I don't think it was an intentional troll. This honestly happens a lot. People rush through the levels, figure they know the content well enough that being undergeared isn't "that big of a deal," and then struggle.

There's being undergeared, and then there's wearing stat-less glamour gear in most slots that is then glamoured to look like other glamour gear, plus no earring or belt, and going in as a tank...while having multiple 70s and clearly knowing how gear works in this game. Had he been wearing no gear the effect would have been nearly the same.

Like, I want to stress how much of an oddity it was, seeing glamour gear worn as the equipped gear, including two "Emperor's New [name]" pieces, that was then either just worn outright or glamoured to something else. I'm just shy of 2k lifetime dungeons run on this character, and this is the first time I've ever seen it. This was not undergeared - this was straight up wrong gear entirely.

I swear I've seen it. The Emperor's stuff does get equipped at level 1 if you have nothing else and hit the "equip best gear" button. People toss or misplace low level gear all the time. They think, "It's only Toto-Rak."

Your frustration is totally valid, either way. Even if it wasn't intentional, it was still not very considerate.

Like I said, note the glamour that's been glamoured to another glamour. I'd show the actual outfit, but I don't want to put any real identifying information out there...but it matches. This was no random assortment of glamour items left in a pack. This dude intended to look the way he did (it was a good look, but clearly intentional).

So yeah, I have a tough time believing this guy somehow accidentally ended up in a matching glamour set that used next to no stat-based gear when queuing into running a duty.

I hate to say it, because I don't want to offend you, but yes, I have. I've seen people do it, and I've done it myself, although only for solo, extremely low level content. It was because my inventory is always a complete mess.

The only difference between me and this person is that I had the foresight to clean my inventory and get my stuff sorted -- and use PotD when I was too lazy to do that.

yeah pretty much lol, as DRG you just need to rotate between chaos thrust and full thrust combo, everything else is sandwiched between the combo, the jump, the litany, the BOTD, everything. DRG used to be the easiest dps class to play with (now RDM take the crown)

So I've been reading this thread at work for a few weeks and it's been amazing. I finally had a story worth sharing last night.

I've been working on leveling my WHM cause I've wanted to do some heals recently, and have been helping a friend level MCH. She wasn't on last night but I decided "why not, lets run a roulette or two and see if I can hit 62".

50/60 roulette, it starts to load and it's Gubal hard. Somehow I never ran this on my BLM, and have definitely never healed it. So we load in and I'm like "Hey so first time here and healing so bear with me." One of the DPS says it's their first time too, and no response from the tank. Cut scenes end and I go to protect and the tank is already running off. Ok good start.

This WAR proceeds to pull the first three groups of trash, and I run in to get a holy out so I can get breathing room to heal him a bit, and as soon as I cast the first heal, aggro to me. Wut. Run through the tank so he can take it back, heal again, aggro again. Long story short, we wipe at that pull. Respawn and the WAR is like "Sorry too much, been a while since I've been here." and I was like "all good, I was confused how I was stealing aggro just from healing you, but lets try again!". So we reset and hit the first few trash packs fine, except I'm still stealing aggro every 3rd heal that I'm throwing on him. Definitely can't use regen in the trash cause if cure 1 is stealing aggro...

One of the DPS mentions offhand "You probably have an AOE aggro ability" and the WAR responds "yeah but the recast is sooooo long" ....hoookay.

Nothing else special happens for most of the dungeon except the DRG DPS we had literally stood in everything and died once on each boss. Until we get to the final boss.

To be fair, there are actually some mechanics here that you have to pay attention to in that fight, and we all failed the first attempt until I remembered back to the guide I watched and quickly threw tips in the chat. We wiped again on the second attempt because the DRG died again and I got caught up in trying to keep the rest alive. Third time we finally cleared it but the DRG died 3 more times during the fight.

Duty ended, the tank said "long run" and I agreed and got out of there as fast as I could. Didn't even care that I got no coms. I can feel the healer salt building already.

I mean, technically that's true since Ultimatum is the only PBAOE version they get, which does have a long recast timer. But they have Overpower they should have been using to keep hate, with Defiance on, and throwing in some Steel Cyclones when Beast Gauge allowed. Technically a cone and not an aoe, so maybe that didn't trigger with them. Sounds like they forgot that button exists.

PLD = Flash = PBAOE (circle around the PLD)
DRK = Unleash = PBAOE (circle around the DRK)
WAR = Overpower = Cone AOE (Cone area in front of WAR)

I think cones count as aoe, aoe just means area of effect, affecting all targets in the area. Some are a circle around the user, or a target circle, or a circle around a target, but cones and lines in front of the caster also count as aoe.

I don't play Warrior so IDK what skills they get exactly but that guy definitely needs to be corrected.

I think my favorite tank story is actually something a FC friend of mine ran into once and not me, when they got a paladin in a dungeon that insisted 'shield oath is passive.'
