Today was a bad choice for NA maintenance.

You do realize that the holiday was scheduled LONG before SE even existed right? A lot of people have the Friday before and/or the Monday after off work.

And yet they scheduled this maintenance anyway. Things to do, bugs to fix. To them it obviously wasn't a big concern. They chose a time that would inconvenience the least amount of people. Obviously it's going to inconvenience someone somewhere. That sucks and all but they're a business doing business things.

How would this change the fact that people still GET THE DAY OFF WORK? They aren't taking a vacation day. Read the original post.

I don't have the day off work, and I'm American. It's not a national holiday. I don't even know of schools that have today off. Certainly not around here.

Several people in my FC have the day off for holiday and were hopping to get some game time in today and catch up.

Seems like a pretty poor choice of day. Oh well I guess. Maybe some advice for next time.

Edit: People replying with the "you were told months ago" don't even know that's irrelevant. People are NOT taking the day off work. They get the day off as a holiday!

Kind of poor planning on their part. We've had several weeks notice of this maintenance. We were told that it would take 24 hours.

Yeah they really should have planned their holidays better. Darn those folks hundreds of years ago who deemed this was a holiday, how could they have not known FFXIV was gonna be in maintenance?

You can play in Japan and Europe today! I've been on Chocobo in Japan all day... helps to have a toon in another data center however. And yeah 24 hour maintenances aren't much fun.

Some countries have the public holiday Easter Monday today (not the USA as we already established). Regardless of where they are from a number of players do play on NA worlds, hence why some are a little annoyed maintenance falls on the same day they thought to have a whole day playing... or something like that

Of course for players that don't have holiday is really no big deal, it's not the first time things like this happen, it's just one of those things.
