Pugging Savage Fights.

Before you guys get up in a tizzy, I've come with a question.

I like to consider myself a raider. Im decent at the game I'd like to think. I've completed all the raids at the moment, savage ones anyway. I've done them as a DPS historically, but I've made the switch to scholar. Recently when redoing o12s, I've realized I've hit a wall. M and F goes swimmingly, as does Hello World 1, but when I get to 2, I realize I have to look for the tank with defamations, rescue him into me, pass rot to myself and my cohealer, dodge all the 1st round of defamations, take the 2nd one, and them spot heal everyone. Sounds easy right? Until you add in the fact that Im 100% colorblind, and im not sure how to tell who has what when Im doing it via pugs. Sure Im not the absolute best but I like to think Im okay at the most with scholar. It just feels... like the odds are stacked against me.

Im already having to spot heal people during Hello World 2, Dodge AOEs, and passing Rot to my cohealer. I have to also rescue the tank depending on the icon, and look at every single icon to see who gets what, assuming I get rot.

"Use the Fight Club Excuse and the 3rd Party Program that tells you who gets what?"

While that technically does solve all my problems, it just feels... terrible having to resort to that...

If Im pugging, Im alone. My friends are kinda on the more casual side, which is fine, I dont mind it, but I dont want to be handheld through raids.

I know. I just feel demoralized. People are already making fun of savage for being so easy these days, so Im not asking Squeenix to give Visual effects to who gets what. I just hate that some mechanics are relegated to specific colored debuffs and small icons on the screen. TO me, Final Omega is a Black Boss, against a Black background, with a white face and spinning white DNA Helixes. Most of his tells are black, the platform is black and things are getting harder and harder to do. Markers are generally white so I can tell where the platform edges are. On the contrary, there's M and F whose the complete opposite.

My question to you guys is,

What in the world should I do? I want to stop being gate kept by Hello World 2 as a healer, and prove to myself that I can, but it feels like so much is stacked against me :/

The best i could offer is see if you can get your pug groups into a form of communication channel like discord, most pugs i have come across have been willing to do so as its easier to coordinate Final Omega that way, if you set up pfs explain you need discord etc due to your color blindness.

I remember they added a colorblind help tool i don't remember where it is in the menu though as i never had to use it yet.

Personally, if I were in such a situation, I would use the triggers and not feel bad about it.

Without them, I'd be playing with a handicap and potentially being a detriment to the group and I personally like to do everything in my power to help out the group and bring the best chances of success.

You wouldn't be gaining an advantage; you'd be levelling the playing field.

Ah i knew a feature to help was added but i didn't know to what extent on how much it helps, thanks for clarifying

I don't think it would kill them to give more debuffs from mechanics an obvious visual effect on your character as opposed to restricting it to your debuff list.

They've handled that very inconsistently throughout the game's life, but I think making debuffs readily identifiable should be standard and just leave the challenge in figuring out what to do with them.

This might be an obvious thing you've already tried, but the only thing I can think of that remain without using the tools you mentioned is to try and take screenshots in the fight, then afterwards try to find a screen setting on your monitor that helps you best. Adjusting things like brightness, contrast, and saturation are things that come to mind.

making a quick discord server just to PUG fights is likely the way to go. Just drop a link and say "Im colorblind, and if someone can just say they have the short stack that'd help me immensely." Theres nothing wrong with using triggers, I dont personally use them because I don't like looking at my chatbox during a fight. but for your cause, they seem to be more beneficial due to your situation and I dont think anyone would think otherwise.

I haven't tried it myself...but have you tried tinkering with the debuff sizes or stuff like that? I know some people have the enemy cast bar literally as BIG as possible in the middle of their screen. I also have the enemy list at like 120% thanks to Shinryu PTSD.

First off never get down on yourself, Savage in my opinion is always easy but is a different beast for healers. The amount of spot healing in 12s is bananas honestly as a healer I would be lost as hell thats why I’m a dumb DPS.

Secondly just like others have said, just maybe use discord to communicate that and just try to work around it as much as you can. SE has needed to do a better job with the buffs and debuffs bars since forever because without being color blind I still get mixed up sometimes.

Its not a debuff or something he casts. When Final Omega Casts Hello World, Between the two tanks, One can get a debuff that has him going far North, and the other has something else, As a healer, I need to spot heal them to keep them alive. I also get 1 of 2 debuffs. Basically its like Allagan Rot, I need to pass it to my cohealer, while having to spot my dps with heals because my cohealer wont be in range to do it myself. if I get Rot, I have to spot heal, if I get the Not Rot Mechanic, I dont have to deal with any of this, but clearing a fight shouldnt be contingent upon me getting randomly chosen to deal with colored debuffs. I want more visual indicators but, I dont want everyone else to complain about stuff being dumbed down at my expense tbh, not that Squeenix is likely to do so anyway
