they should at LEAST replace the old god awful battle tracks. I never even liked XI's battle music but I would prefer that over what we have now.

Still like the old honestly. The only track ive never been fond of is Black Shroud battle theme. The variety introduced in the fields was a great move and made it feel like a vaster area. I kinda like all the different composing styles together personally. Also all old music bad? Twilight Over Thanlan, Desert Moon Defied, and Quicksand would like to have a word wit ya! (obviously Ul'dah for life)
Um....No, speak for your damn self. A lot of the original music is awesome. One of the only things they got right on release.I'm sure I'm not the only who has noticed a real improvement in the music in XIV lately. A lot of it feels much more RPG-esque, if you get what I'm saying... not to mention it's much catchier. Honestly, such tracks are substantially better than many of the original XIV tunes... such as some of the awful battle themes, leve music, etc. The exception(s) to this being the town and zone music.
So, do you guys agree? Should the devs consider replacing some of the older tracks?
Fortunatly, the new music continues to be equally awesome (Moogle Fight is just plain magical) so I say leave them to their own devices with the music, they know what they are doing there.
EDIT: The people saying that "rocky" battle themes don't fit Final Fantasy must have not played a FF game in a long time.

For what it's worth, I love both the old and the new tracks. I would be really sad if they replaced all the old music -- I like how it's upbeat. I personally don't like the new cinematic/ambient style of music like in WoW, since it puts me to sleep.
Agree with OP.
I dislike most if not all of the old music. The SH and primal music rules.
how could people dislike the original FFXIV music, alot of it was very FF style, and even many tracks brought back memories of older FF games due to how they sounded.

for gods sake please change the market wards music, please please please! and the crafting.. or at least give us a choice! i love the rest of the soundtrack, just those 2 really make me want to snap a pencil in half (preferably the composers) i dont want to mute the game just cuz of that, but i have to! ;p

Nothing gets you pumped to beat the crap out of something like electric guitar and fast drums <.< FF7 did this and everyone loved it haha Why not in this? The rock-style battle music was one of the main reasons I wanted to play this over XI. <3 the solo music outside of Limsa.

I like the original soundtrack, but my main gripe with it is the poor quality MIDI instruments used on everything. You'd expect bigger production values from an FF title, especially since they went and got the original composer. I think if they just redid parts of the old songs with new recordings of live instruments it'd be a huge improvement.
The worst use of MIDI has to be the electric guitar sounds, though. Since Uematsu owns a recording studio and has his own rock band you'd think he'd be able to get a real guitar player, right?
I would like to see different music depending on the time of day.
Zone/city/battle themes, should have different music during daytime and nightime. It would add alot of atmosphere. I've played rpg's from 1990's that had this and it was something I always really enjoyed.
Some even had unique battles themes for each monster, it made those undead battles epic.![]()
