I agree, do away with pet Egis and poisons.I want them to scrap the Egis entirely and replace them all with Demi summons. Have our Carbuncles be our primary pets and you can channel the Aether of whichever Primal you choose to temporarily turn them into a Demi version of those summons. It'd make the class actually feel like a summoner, instead of a DoT mage with a pet and being able to properly summon something impressive every two minutes.
Like, make Ifrit a single-target melee focused, as he already is, Titan can be more about AoEing and Garuda can be single-target ranged focused. This way, Titan could actually see some use in dungeons, because even at max level, you don't really need a tank pet, unless you're fighting something that grossly overpowers you.
Hell, make it a rotation based thing where each of them last 40 seconds or something, so it totals out to two minutes and summoning all three of them allows you to summon Demi Bahamut. Then you could mix Dreadwrym Trance with summoning Demi-Bahamut to pump out some real damage with the instant-cast Ruin IIIs.
I also want them to get their own weapon type and battle stance apart from SCH, but wishful thinking.

If I was in charge, which obviously I'm not, I would have deleted SMN as it stands now, made it so SCH begins in Limsa at level 1 and re-released SMN as a "new" job in 5.0, giving everyone who currently has level 70 ACN a free jump potion to get back to 70 on the new SMN and reworked the class entirely (and made Dancer the healer while I was at it, giving us all 3 roles at expansion launch).
They've lamented over and over again that they hate the class system especially as it relates to ACN, but are unwilling to prove that they're willing to do something about it.

How about people who enjoy the playstyle? Screw them right? You got to address some feelz. Just an opinion, bro, but thanks for the meme. I don't think it's an understatement to say that if you enjoy throwing dots and having a dinky pet that autos and is clunky that you're in the vast minority of people who enjoy the class and wouldn't prefer it to be more summon-based than dots based.
It is in a better spot now, save for the Ruin III spam that most people don't particularly feel compelled by. It's currently the most enjoyable it's ever been for me, but that still doesn't scream "this class is well-designed".
Sad truth it’s not a Summoner.....so yes the class should have been separate from ARC and there should have been a class dedicated to that instead of the current SMN identity issues which is. Is it a Witch/dot mage or a SMN who summons Demi primals it doesn’t need both they need to separate the two because you have two opposing communities for one class.


Summoner as it is now is a good class. A total overhaul would be a mistake in my opinion, the class only needs minor tweaking and trying to make it align with the idea of a summoner thematically at the expense of how the class plays isn't a good idea. I don't really understand the desire to make it "more" of a summoner anyway myself. The class is already heavily reliant on summoning, you just don't have to constantly summon while playing it. I'm fine with SE adding a class that has you micromanaging your pet, but Summoner should also stay the way it is now.

According to who? Who is THE authority on what a Summoner is and isn't?
And why can't it be both? Why can't it be a DoT mage who uses a resource to build up to a big Summon Burst phase? Oh right, sorry. A loud Minority who don't think it feels like a """Traditional""" Summoner.
