The bottom line is, neither of us can actually answer this question, as it up to the jurisdiction of the copyright owner and a court of law.

Again I don't care what business you're in. You don't know what I'm in, and here on the internet you have absolutely no credibility just as I don't.

The reason I'm here giving you grief is not explicitly be a jerk, but because I have seen dozens of artists get scared of copyright infringement and going to jail or getting sued because they think some game company is gonna crack down on them for paid commissions. It wont happen. People in this few thousand post thread have asked for sources to be linked to the artists to give them the attention they deserve, and it's even kinder to mention they can be hired to do similar works, potentially more original.

I wasn't even on planning on changing race, I was just going to check out the customization options for the new race. My bf had his heart set on being a male bunny.
I'm really sad they decided to gender-lock races. Even though it doesn't personally affect me, I wish they hadn't denied that choice to other people that want male viera or female hrothgar.
I honestly hope they change their minds and plan to add in male viera and female hrothgar, or that that was always the plan they're just not revealing everything right now.

Viera as a whole weren't even in the cards until the devs finally caved to fan demand for them.

The original plan was Hrothgar only (both genders), and Hrothgar bring the last race ever added to the game. But the devs realized the players were never going to keep quiet about Viera. So as a compromise between dev wishes and player wishes, Female Hrothgar got sacked so that Female Viera could take their place. The devs though this would please the most amount of people in one go. But they didn't anticipate THIS amount of backlash (they expected some but not this much).

So now the obstacle here is "can the missing genders be filled in to appease fan demand without creating an excessive workload/eating up too much time and money?"

For those hoping for Male Viera/Female Hrothgar, I wish you good luck. I'm not leaving a like on the front as I personally do not support this (I was against new races myself; would rather see the current races get dedicated attention). But still, godspeed.

Viera have been "in the cards" since before HW. This isn't the first time they contemplated introducing them.

Both Viera and Hroth are the results of player wishes, for Hroths, the wish for a more beastly race (let's not get into how at least one poll on the matter lumped Viera along with such beastly races, likely garnering much bigger support for the option than if they had been placed as separate options). I think if one race truly was the wishes of the devs while the other was playerbase, they'd have gone either or and not tried to squeeze in as much as they did. This road to hell is paved very much with good intentions that ended up in a pile of poor results and implications.

But they didn't anticipate THIS amount of backlash (they expected some but not this much).

And therein lies the problem. There's so much they're surprised about, like so many people running Eureka (when they locked the relic, mounts, glamours and housing items behind it), or that people actually liked the Anima grind (it's really not that surprising when you think about how you can get the relic just by playing the game, I got my Anima weapons farming the Mentor roulette and hunting, two things I like to do). Things that make sense and are already voices that exist in the playerbase catch them by surprise.

Mammalian demi-beastmen proved to be the most desired new race, though I wonder if they received an unfair advantage because I dropped the name “Viera.” For some reason, reptilians are relatively popular among French players, at 18%. On the whole, races of mixed heritage are equally sought after across all regions.

I will play devils advocate and say beast races like wolfmen, or possibly Ronso in this case, are not exactly high percentage. As Yoshi-P says Viera were the most requested race GLOBALLY when looked at together though and Ronso can be classified as mammalian demi-beastmen

It most likely wasn't, but they also explained why they went with Hroth - because it added the most to the table as far as varying looks went. Roes were alone in being that big, and no other race, not even Au Ra and Miqo'te, were quite as beastly as Hroths were going to be. Meanwhile Viera are Elezen with bunny ears visually speaking. Regardless of how much I disagree with that (a race is so much more than what they look like), I can understand it.
The problem with that is that likely many people who requested such a thing also wanted the females, especially after what happened with Au Ra, which left many feeling like they were robbed of their fierce demonesses and had to settle for lizard waifus instead. So what happened in this year's Tokyo FanFest is that they not only shattered hopes for male Viera, but also introduced the possibility for female Hroths and then crushed them in the same breath.

Poll was linked for our scrutinizing pleasure, and even Yoshida acknowledged that putting Viera in as an example likely skewed results.
