Yeah haha. Unless you have dual pld you might as well just tank in level 50 duties since you won't have your dps combo yet and have to spam the rage of halone combo...and it's even later before you get your requiscat/holy spirit phase. Paladin doens't have much going on pre HW....

Recently I ran through the Great Gubal Library for the Main Scenario Quest. Normally I tank, but this week I have been studying what it is like being a healer. I went about this role in that library with Eos and my Codex.

Two members of that party were a Warrior and a Samurai. The Warrior stated, she(?) was new to tanking in that dungeon and would not be doing great big pulls. I think in the first section we wipe because I mistarget Lustrate and heal myself instead of the tank. Controller, you see. This uncomfortable nightmare of some people being up, some others being dead, and others running for their lives begins, but it ends. Anyways, the tank stops to adjust for a bit but the Samurai just keeps going and engages the next group of enemies alone. As I mainly play tanks this actually offends me and I sit back partially because I think this disorganization will get me killed and that I hate it even if it wouldn't. The tank apologizes for not being fast and fairly reiterates they had not tanked this dungeon before, the Samurai asks if we can simply "run through and kill everything." Tanking and spanking single clumps of mobs through the dungeon is not hard, and between here and until we encounter the Demon Tome, nothing so terrible happens but I start to get the suspicion that with the 60 boosts being on sale, we definitely have one person who bought one for Samurai. I don't entirely disdain the use of those. "If it works, it works." I say, and I honestly thought about using one for Dragoon to avoid torturing myself in Palace of the Dead, but I do find it a little strange someone bought a jump to 60 for a class that starts at 50.

We get to the book and discuss what to do with it, and if memory serves the Samurai insists on just attempting to slice it repeatedly in chat. Because of this, I have to raise her when she eats a laser because our discussion on what to do was apparently unheeded. This expensive use of MP gets the Samurai an opportunity to die to book beams a second time, which she quickly seizes. After I take too long to resurrect her we are short a DPS, and have to beat the Tome with three people, which we do, because it's an easy fight if you pay attention to the mechanics. I found that I frequently did not even Lustrate the tank enough time to empty my Aetherflow charges between cooldowns.

After this a mechanic replaces our samurai and we happily joke at the Samurai's expense for the rest of a relatively smooth run. I entertain the belief these jump to 60 purchases be limited to people who have reached 60 on another class or character.

I'm pretty sure SAM and RDM don't have boost potions available. Maybe in ShB if they release level 70 potions, but I don't think they get boost potions yet.

Going from 0 to stupid a pretty big jump though.

Just like Scholar's "Excogitation" is a big spell too - or Paladin's "Clemency" - but I'm sure you and everyone knows what level those are available too off the top of your head, right?
Excog Level 62 Scholar , Clem Level 58 Paladin

Time it would take someone to look up the information instead of complain.. roughly about the amount of time it took to type the post to complain to the RDM player

Here is the thing tho,if I don't know what level is a certain skill obtained at,I don't lash on a fellow party member for my own ignorance,I just remain silent because I can't speak of a job I havent fully learned yet rather than pretend that I know and start blaming a healer or a red mage for not using a skill they literally don't have at that level

I really do not know if I should thank or curse you both because it actually really hurts knowing that they had to have grinded from 50 to 60 and thus should have known better.

I can understand being impatient but I am bothered about how someone could not learn how to avoid the Demon Tome's Disclosure attack after being struck the first time, and further, having been told what to do beforehand.

EDIT: It's possible this fellow was a bit too conditioned from running the Palace of the Dead.

Just ran into someone who clearly level-boosted AST to 60 because they let the tank die, twice, by not using their heal skill at all. Or any skill for that matter. Hell they almost died themselves from lack of any healing. I don't know how this person even got a different character to level 48 if they apparently have an issue figuring out how to press a button to do something.

Just had a Bard in Gubal die 5 times to the opening giant book boss because every single time we would rez them to our side of the book, a mechanic would happen and they would instantly die... even with Lustrate. Or they would rez over on the same side of the book that they died on. Lol. It was pretty weird.

The same dungeon, at the final boss, saw the same Bard and a BLM place the orbs on the platform lights for the adds even with myself and the tank telling them where to place them.
Bless them, they really tried to DPS as hard as they could but I can only heal so many vuln stacks!

This is just a quick question for a few people out there who may have experienced this like I did.

Has this forum post and subsequent comments taught you how NOT to play a class, and therefore, helped you out by already having the knowledge of what not to do?

Small case in point... I started out on Scholar and had a pretty good understanding of how to play it from just this forum post alone. Already at level 60 and loving playing it!
