As they declared they went with Hrothgars to fill a race slot they felt were missing. They presented feline heads mostly but in an interview Yoshi said they will have other heads than felines and cited wolves which might be akin to Lupins, and there might be more options.

Sounds pretty awesome if head choices are part of the mix. It's perhaps why hear gear won't be ready for launch. I suspect female Viera wouldn't be that hard to adjust although the ears might present more of a problem than some might suspect, dunno.

For Hrothgar, it'd be a matter of needing to change all the helmet meshes to fit their head shape(unless they did it with an algorithm like WoW or GW2, which results in hideous results where jaws are just hanging out from the bottom), and for viera it'd be their huge-ass ears. We at least know that specific pieces, like the DNC artifact headgear(a ribbon on the back of the head), will work.
