That's what they most likely already did for females Viera and males Htothgars. Actually, there are only three bodies in this game right now. Lalafels and Roe have their own, and everything else are adjusted to different conditions Hyur body. Every race has its own texture pack though but it's not the worst. There is still a lot of work to do.

For armor - no one here say that they have to release missing genders on 5.0 launch, it's physically impossible. If it will be somewhere in 6.0 or even later - it's fine. People can be very patient when they will know if they will get something. Anyway, it's up to SE to decide if it's worth to work on counterparts or not, not to us.

As for Viera emotes - I personally think they were not finished at EU fanfest so just wait until the launch to see how they going to look in game.

This talk has brought up a point that cropped up in the Female Hrothgar thread that I find pretty interesting! For a while I played in other mmo's and such and it was glaringly obvious when the game devs used old models on new (non playable) races. World of Warcraft for example! There was always that standard outcry of laziness. However, as technology has developed over the years I've seen a lot of games (the people in their animation and modelling teams) really improve on using the pieces parts they have! Many dev teams make their end goal look incredibly unique despite this! Through textures, animations, and pieces parts of skeleton rigs.

I think Final Fantasy 14 is an incredible example of this and I wanted to reiterate what I said back in the Female Hrothgar thread. I don't care if they re-use assets no matter what they are! As long as Male/Female Viera and Ronso look (different enough) like themselves? That's all I really want!

I think it would be a good idea if they re-purposed the Omega-M model as base for Male Viera. It already fits what they are talking about in how they'd want them tall, elegant, also it's high quality so I don't see a reason not to do that.

Ughhh... I can imagine already people bringing up the fact about other topics when new content fails in future. "If people would show as much interest as they did in male Viera...".

I mean, this genderlock thing made high waves, so much that we got 1500 likes and the fanfest was a week ago. Lets embrace it, there is no escape from this. xd

I know we won't get them at launch, but I really won't be spending any money on fantasia until they add Male Viera. It's my small form of protest.

To be perfectly honest, If I had any say about anything at SE, after reading this thread I'd just scrap the idea of adding new races all together. I can understand being disappointed that you didn't get what you want. But with everything FFXIV offers as far as content goes, if you'd quit just because of a genderlocked race, then you really don't like the game very much to begin with.

That...that would not be a very sound business decision.

It's okay to be critical of things you like. It okay not to like e everything about a game, and Express ways it could be better!

Most people in this thread aren't even threatening to quit though. Did you actually read it?

For instance, I know the Vanu Vanu is based off the Amalj'aa model. But that doesn't mean they're going to do the same for Viera and Hrothgar. Also, would you even want that? Let's say the devs, use Elezen models for Viera and Roe for Hrothgar? Then you're going to get people saying this work is lazy. People were already criticizing the Vieras for their emotes. But they're still going to have to work with A TON of gear pieces to apply to the new races. Why else do we still not have the various hemp sets?
To be frank, a lot of people support a male Viera based off the male Elezen model and I believe it was this thread that was discussing it earlier how much female vieras look like Omega F (who is clearly built of female Elezens). There is also another thread who want male Viera to be small like female au ra and some have even suggested to work off their model. The thing is that neither are bad ideas. Taking a skeleton that exists and repurposing it and changing it so its not glaringly obvious will not break the community. Would it be cool if they had their own skeleton and were unique. Hell ya it would. But is that even happening with female Vieras and male Hrothgars? Probably not. In fact, there was a post or possibly a thread that was pointing out that the male Hrothgar share the same running animation as a male Roe. Which, if that is indeed the case, then they most likely have the same skeleton or they are at least working off of male Roes in some form. Its not a bad thing if it is done correctly, I must stress, however.

I think you're in the wrong thread. Go look in the salty healer section of the forums for that attitude lol. But so true, screw that mentality.
