    Shadowbringers and Jobs

Two questions, cuz I'm surprised no one's really brought it up yet.

Do we reckon jobs on the First are different like how races are? Are Black Mages (Magus?) and Dark Knights (no idea) seen as some sort of savoir types? Are White Mages (Devout?) seen as the ignorant servants of Sin Eaters?

Would this bleed into job quests? Would we answer the question of what more can we learn by delving into how the First utilises certain skills? Maybe Astro will pick up a form of fortune telling unique to the First as a part of it's skillset?

Any predictions on how the various jobs will include the First in general? I doubt it'll just be like Y'mirta going like "If only we had this special type of rock that only appears in other dimensions I guess it's a lost cause oh wait you found one well how about that?"

Given that some Job quest had no real influence from expansions (Scholar comes to my mind) I think they can go the easy route and just have everything happen on the Source.
Although jobs on the First are an interesting topic. I'm curious to see how it will be handled.

I wish level 80 AF gear was a bit "dark edgy" too.

I'm curious how that'll be handled too. I wonder what a Red Mage on the First would be... Maybe Oracle in reference to the fact in its infancy RDM couls conceptually have been a healer called "Oracle"?

I'm curious about that as well, which was why I made that other thread about magic, but it was poorly phrased ^^; There'll probably be differences to the jobs from the Source due to difference in culture, conflicts/wars, and ecosystems.

Scholars/Summoners (Evokers?), or the equivalent, probably have different 'tactics' than we use. Maybe they can use magic like Libra? It might be that summoners can attune to the Light, if Primal energies are lacking, but we don't know if there is much of any Primal energy left, because of the Warriors of Darkness. Maybe Devout are working (devoted) to preserve the forests/elementals acting as a bastion around the inhabitable region not flooded by Light?

Astro will probably be different since stars wouldn't be visible at constant daytime, or maybe they can feel the stars more sensitively. Planets would be visible occasionally, so maybe they use those instead. Maybe they "read" the Light or flow of aether in the sky/lifestream? Or maybe astromancy isn't a thing, and they use Geomancer techniques like in Kugane instead. We don't know yet.

Bards most likely have different songs and stories than on the Source. Maybe they're more like skalds? The Warrior of Darkness equivalent to Bard was Ranger, so maybe they don't use songs. Maybe they're more focused on sniping/trapping Sin Eaters?

They said weather would be different on the First Shard, so that might have an impact on the ecosystems. Botanists probably have different/more advanced skill-sets as the Flood of Light make everything a blank perfection, forcing new techniques and technology to provide reliable harvests.

By the Matron I totally forgot about the noncombat classes while writing this. And now I'm suddenly cursed to think about the idea of fishing up some Sin Eater fish to show Wawalago.

I never thought about it, it's actually a cool idea!

In some of our jobquests we are the best, in DRG one we even become teachers already.
What could give us the right stimuli to grow more than a whole new world whit broken laws of physics?

Now that you said it I feel like that is the only way fro us to progress. Maybe not for all the jobs but for some for sure.
DRKs in a Light flooded world must be mighty! While SCHs maybe could be connected to the Pixies.

That's is a good question. I've been wondering that too since Yoshi said Y'shtola looks like a BLM and the WODs had different names for their jobs. Plus in the trailer you can see an NPC with an axe and a shield.

The races have different names on the First so wouldn't be surprised if their equivalent of jobs similar to the WOD npcs do too.

I think jobs will be split between the 1st Shard and the Source. There's a number of jobs whose quests revolves around specific culturesand I have a really hard time seeing those jobs not take place on the Source. It would also be a good way for the Source not to be totally abandoned outside of the MSQ. Other jobs are more about discovering what their job can actually do and I see those jobs having an easier time justifying why they take place on the 1st Shard. There's also the chance that Dancer and Gunbreaker are 1st Shard jobs.

Also... some jobs in Stormblood never even left the ARR or HW areas. Paladin, Scholar, Summoner, Black Mage and Machinist never took advantage of how we got new zones. But a lot of that has to do where where there jobs are based. Black Mage and Scholar are both based on the War of the Magi cities which are in Eorzea. Summoner's quests revolved around tracking down Allagan tech (there's none in the SB zones unless you count HoH). Machinest is all about Ishgard. Paladin never left Ul'dah.

There was also a number of Jobs that while they did go to Gyr Abania, they never went to the Far East. Dark Knight, White Mage, Bard, Red Mage and Monk haven't been to Hingashi, Doma or the Steppe. So that's like... 10 jobs that have yet to even use all the regions we currently have. I get the feeling that may continue depending on what the focus of each job's quests are. Since by this point, some of the quests are starting to get arcs of their own (rebuilding the Fist of Rhalgr, being a Dragoon after the Dragonsong war is over, etc.).
