Roulette into Brayflox, leveling Black Mage.
So I got to teach a beginner Astro how their cards worked.
Gave a brief overview right before boss 2 (Warrior and Bard waited kindly), and offered to give a full guide post-clear, and he replied with "that'd be great, cheers."
And then once the big mean dragon was dust, we sat there for almost the rest of the 10 minute timer, and discussed the cards. He was super appreciative and nice, and seemed to be getting what I was trying to say. Always such a joy to find people who want to learn. Really made my day. ^v^

...Seems I'm getting to be a mentor on my alt more than on my actual mentor character. Huh.

The biggest "Oh God No" run I had was me tanking Dzmael Darkhold as a WAR(I'm a lalafell) and having this one SMN actively make racist remarks about me being a lalafell up to the first boss. Saying things like "You stupid potato" and "All lalafells are just footstools and nothing more" while the heal and the dps were quiet the entire time. I ended up shirking them of spite, which caused them to die and they left right after.

I need to remember this. So far it's been fun banter if I get teased for being a mini tank, but I may of been just lucky.

Okay, happen some time ago. I usually play as healer but I was leveling my Bard so I jumped in the Roulette. Right at the start of the dungeon we had the most toxic healer I've ever met and not the funny ones with stupid raise macros. No, the "I'm so much better than everyone else type." So from the get go right after the first pull, the healer started to insult our Tank, a paladin, did a solid job never lost the agro to me or anyone else. But the healer insulted the tanks "weak pulls" and mocked that they are bad and can't pull more and so on. It wasn't a low level dungeon and as a player who doesn't really feel the need to rush, I didn't mind. Also when I play as a healer I tend to favor smaller pulls as well. Less stressed and not as risky, especially with first timers in the party who might want to enjoy the dungeon. (Happend more than once that I couldn't heal the tank in time because he or she thought; "let's pull half the dungeon, who cares!") So the healer mocked and annoyed our tank to the point she had to report him and we, of course, vote kicked. Got another healer and things went on fine. I never understand the need to do these massive pulls, if we die it takes even more time than just pulling smaller, it was not Sastasha or any low level one where it's less risky, so what is the point?

Glad you kicked them. I get that when people have run dungeons several times before they just want to get their roulettes over quicker. But no need to be a jerk about it. If the healer had said 'you can do bigger pulls I got you' that would be fine. But you're not guaranteed a speed run when you hop into duty finder with pugs.

Sometimes people are just in huge hurries I guess.

And oh hey right after I posted that earlier bit, I got to teach an Arcanist in Haukke how Aetherflow, Energy Drain etc. work.

Lol Sooo I am running Guildhest roulette, I go in with my friend who is a THM, I am a BLM and the tank and healer end up being a GLD and a WHM.

The tank pulls the group on the left and I start helping. My friend pulls the group on the right. I gaped for a min, my friend knows better. But whatever, it's the first guildhest.

After we kill the first group, the tank types "Its a good diea to let the tank tank" (Yeah those are their typos not mine)

I snicker at my friend, cause they really knew better. But whatever.

The second group comes out and the tank runs in, the healer heals the tank and the tank proceeds to let the healer tank the mobs.

I can't resist replying, even though it had nothing to do with me. "then maybe the tank should get the stuff off the healer?"

The tank replies "Maybe you should not attack first so I can gain agro"

I'm rolling. NOBODY attacked anything. They ran in and proceeded to not do anything except attack the Goobue.

I reply "The healer healed you and took aggro, learn how aggro works please ^^"

The tank replied "No the dps attacked first so I could get agro" Lol I know what they mean.

My friend says "During the first set of monsters yes"

and I reply "I watched the healer take aggro for healing"

It was just so silly. Like dude. Flash, please. No one attacked the second set at all until we noticed they were just letting the healer tank them.

I would like to give a shout out to Selene, my fairy, for tanking the second boss in Quarn Hard mode. She did a magnificent job keeping herself and us alive as I and the tank continued to neglect her.

The time is 11:50am

Yojimbo trial out for less than three hours. I join. Party in progress, pretty normal, its brand new after all. Bout to start new run.

3 Minutes in Tank is screaming in chat to stack. Everyone stacks. One of the other peeps moves marker to another direction. Pretty understandable, most markers need to be dropped away from party.

Some peeps die, no prob, two RDM and the heals, resses up instantly.

Tank refuse to get up. One person moved a chain to wrong direction, he's done now, and wants us to know it.

Needless to say who gets loot. Nobody who actually took part.

"Yojimbo" trial experience


Despite healers causing at least 3 of the 4 wipes(which is ok this is the first time for literally everyone in the instance) and me getting chained 3 times and never freed before dying as an MT DRK,the trial was legit pretty fun and after so many years of no hildibrand trials....this one delivers and then some

Queue up for 50/60 roulette, and end up in Amdapor Keep (Hard)

I'm not worried at all cause I don't remember ever having trouble with this dungeon... But boy am I in for a surprise.

I'm BLM on my alt leveling her up, and we get a RDM, PLD and SCH.

Right off the bat, the tank is having trouble keeping aggro with a handful of adds, but it's not enough to complain about. They're using Total Eclipse instead of flash and I'm honestly too tired to correct them.

We get to the first boss, and the healer dies to the second lightning tether. They just stand there. Don't heal themselves or anything.

We struggle to try and finish without them, but no luck. I explain what they need to do, and they are thankful.

Next go the tank and the healer die to the tether. The healers excuse was they were healing so they just couldn't do the mechanics.

The tank suggests that we all stand close to the statues, and I tell them no, we can't because we'll break the statues and we need them.

The tank decides not to listen to me, and the third time, one of the statues is already broken before the first beam comes out because the tank is just letting the boss cleave it.

We still manage to beat it though because I got targeted by the tethers.

We wipe to the next set of adds. The tank for some reason tries to do a big pull even though they can't even hold three adds, let alone more.

We make it to the next boss and somehow don't wipe, though we get the bleeding debuff cause no one kills the big red add, even though I marked it.

Third boss goes just as nicely as the first.

I tell everyone before we start. ADDS asap and don't stand in the blue spinning scythes.

Wanna guess who stands in the blue spinning scythes?

The healer. They're first to die again, and we could have maybe beat it, but the tank didn't listen to the RDM who begged them to LB.

The Tank asks "Can we not help out the ppl in the goo." I roll my eyes cause I say we needed to kill the adds asap.

The RDM and the SCH both say "No, you need to help."

And the tank replies "We let the healer die."

No. That's not what happened. The healer stood in the big blue spinny scythes of doom, like I told them not to, and kept standing in them till the got caught by an add. So they died right as the add took them.

I go to reply to the tank "No." because we did not let the healer die. The healer was sleeping on the mechanics and got themselves killed.

Before I can say anything else the healer replies "it was unlucky placement"

I'm wanting to say something so bad, but I keep my mouth shut, I just want my EXP and to get out of this awful run.

The tank I could excuse, it was their first time. The healer... I don't even know what they were doing. The tank was fully geared in full 130/120 gear and the tanks HP was getting so stupid low. Everyone's HP was, and they were not DPSing so I don't know what the problem was. Me and the RDM only took dmg from roomwide aoe or stuff that was directly targeted so its not like they had extra stuff to do.

I should have saved my leveling my healers for last on this girl cause Imma be miserable watching stuff like this happen while I try to finish the DPS.

Sometimes I feel like this community is getting more and more toxic as time goes on, both in newer and in older content alike. They're not patient with new comers any more, people are way more vocally rude now, everyone is rush rush rush. I get that going content over and over again gets old but if you're not going to be a team player or you're already in a bad mood, perhaps take some time to do things that aren't group activities. Hopefully we can discourage troll like behavior and keep them either off the game or at the very least, unacknowledged and silenced to themselves.

This thread always serves as a wonderful reminder of many things:
1. Some people are just gonna be mean for whatever reason just because and there's nothing you can do about it.
2. Those same people are easily countered by patient people and those with fun, out going personalities making group content more enjoyable. Thank you to everyone who takes the time to just play and have fun and for being understanding of newer or less educated players. Hopefully we can go back to the days where that's more the norm again.
