I guess it could have some unique interaction with the role actions that are also some of the job's only recurring spells, like how SCH can still combine Deployment Tactics with Eye for an Eye.Well Tranq and Leap could be a...direct hit bonus and in-battle burst of movement speed, respectively, which would be interesting. Protect, Shell, Stoneskin, Eye for an Eye, all those kinds of spells are just floating around the healers without much real impact, but Green Mage could consolidate some of those into something more interesting. Off the top of my head, what if it planted "seeds" on the target that, when struck over time (like Eye for an Eye) healed for some amount and also reduced incoming magic/physical damage depending on which was used?
Anyway, there's lots of potential new ideas for implementing classes, I'll never buy the excuse they're creatively bankrupt. Resources maybe, balance...maybe not, out of ideas, never.

Well, if other XIV jobs are anything to go by, there's a lot of drawing from multiple different jobs. For example, Warrior in XIV takes a bit from Warrior and a bit from Berserker. Ninja takes some Thief and some Ninja. Astrologian takes some Time Mage and some Astrologian.
Meaning there's no reason to not expect that a Green Mage healer might take some of the supporting aspects of the traditional Green Mage (Along with a big ol' Hammer) and mix in some heals from another job such as Oracle.

Thought about this for a bit, I would love to see a Jester. Like a class where all the attacks are beyond absurd and tie into clownish comedy routines and in terms of aesthetics. Stuff like damage-dealing pies to the face and miming someone into an invisible prison or slicking the ground so everyone is slipping and so on. Offhand I can't remember if there's an existing class in the Final Fantasy series that works like this, but I could see the job working as something within DPS. Maaaaaaaaaybe a caster? Since there are three full caster jobs there not counting Blue Mage. Jester could also work as Melee DPS though or range DPS or even a ?????? though. I just think the woncept could be fun.
Besides, imagine the sea of infinite clowns in-game if something like that got implemented lol.

For the next expansion?
Healer: Necromancer (maybe Chemist)
Ranged DPS: Beastmaster (ranged whip as weapon)
Caster DPS: Blue Mage (promoted to fully functional job)
All roles now have four jobs.
idk, maybe take some of the asterisks from the bravely series? Stuff like Pattisier, Yokai, Kaiser, Exorcist, SalveMaker and Performer would be lit. Balancing nightmare though. Especially Exorcist and Salve-Maker lmao

Tank: Geoknight, haven't wrote the thread yet but a mage tank who uses dual wielding shield walls (giant columns of stone that can be imbued with elemental energy)
Healer: Geomancer (aoe/vicinity concepts) / Chemist / New gimmick*
Damage Dealer: Dark theme transformation job
Advanced Jobs**: Blue Mage, Beastmaster, Puppetmaster, Chemist (talked with a mate who suggested chemist could have some fun limited aspects)
* Geomancer uses aoe and we can see some of the ideas in FFXI, chemist in creating effects and being potion themed (can also bake those concepts into gameplay, like giving players a special ability on their screen that is a consensual but good heal), but we could also explore healers that heal by dealing damage or healers that give their own life to heal others. In the first it could help a lot to add dual targeting (such that a healer could have a healing target set separately from their attack target, you may see this as a thing in some other mmos), and in the second you might find rather than mp management they have spells to stave off self damage and increase their health pool (sort of a blood mage).
**Jobs that have limited systems that do something new and weird to the game (new mini-game, changes to progression, different content, etc), and then a job that balances the concept of those limited systems but in a way that can work as normal main content. Some jobs may not work well at all as advanced though (has to be limited), but I believe many could including the above listed.

I think Geomancer could work as a DPS. Not sure if they should have 2 handed hammers or a 1 handed hammer but since they revealed that character for Eden I think it should have hammers.
I think Chemist could work as a Healer. Not sure how it would play. Maybe have a mix ability like ninja's mudras but... you kinda need to be fast when healing and that could slow you down.
I never want to see another limited job for as long as I live.

I think Beastmaster would do good with Crossbows and a melee pet. The pet does not have to be fancy, so long as it focus on your target and auto attacks, and the player does it's own flavored ranged physical DPS rotation.
As for my other "wish lists"
Healer: Necromancer (hey, at least it would be thematic that they raise the dead mid fight, I'm sure you can use some dark ritual magics to heal.) Weapon: harvesting hook
Magic DPS: Geomancer (I know, even I would like it to be a healer... but would it not be cool to have an earth/wind focused dedicated offensive mage?) Weapon, of course: bells.
These 3 leave us with 4 jobs on every sub-category. Beyond that:
Berserker? (Melee DPS, has a "rage" bar that fills up with every single action and depletes with inaction, the fuller it is, the more damage the Berserker inflicts) Weapon: 2 handed hammer.
Shaman? (Healer that calls upon vegetation and other forces of nature to heal and aid the party, they could wield some sort of totems as weapons.) Weapon: a drum.
Honestly i would want Beast Master or something. Another job that has a pet would be really cool.

Healer:
Chemist
Oracle
Geomancer
DPS:
Unlimited Blue Mage
Time Mage
Spellsword
Tank:
Knight
