If fans can't respect the lore then just remove Viera all together, I refuse to see Male Viera by the hundreds in this game when lore states nobody has ever seen one. They are NEVER-EVER seen, unlike the male Miqote. This community today... wow! Pleas hiding behind notions of right and wrong to fulfill self-centeredness. Sick.

Edit: Everyone needs to take a breath and calm down. Does anyone have any concern for the devs and their well-being? Or do all of you only care about what you want? Seriously, the selfishness on this forum right now is astounding!

Edit 2: If they decide to implement male/female Viera and Hrothgar, we're going to lose out on future content due to time constraints. I guarantee it! These requests/demands don't come without a cost.

Last time I checked, this isn't FFXII either. They won't have male Viera because of the lore, but they will rewrite the lore so they don't have to make female Ronso.

Oh yeah next time I fly my rathalos or drive a car in FFXIV on my way to a raid with Androids I make sure to wave to every male Miqo'te along the way, because nothing weird to see here. But oh boy male Viera who exist just really few and secluded, no there is no way some could have left the forest and became adventurers because other races are not allowed to have any agency whatsoever.

Or they could have gone with the FF12 lore that male Viera are highly territorial. Those who couldn't get their own territories would likely go out adventuring to get stronger/to look for their own territories. The FF14 lore just seems like they put it in so they wouldn't have to make the males.
(I am not interested in male Viera myself, but I think it should be an option for players.)

I would have liked to see elderly Viera being territorial about their houses, yelling at Lalafell to get off their lawn, though.

You know, I see people insulting those that don't agree with them, as well as everyone complaining about lore and everything. What I personally haven't seen? Direct quotes about Miqo'te. All I've been able to find online after a small search was that the females greatly outnumber the males for some reason. And the only reference I've seen is 'Encyclopædia Eorzea pg. 086-087', and I'm not someone who actually has that book. So I'd like someone to actually drop an information bomb about it for people like me who don't know much about it at all.

Anywho, eh - they don't need to delete them; I'd be happy with the truth on why they're locked and promise to actually add on later on throughout the expansion, even if it means 6.0 - when we're back to fighting Garleans or whatever.

Lore excuse is sadly weak; but if they're sticking to their guns now, then yeah...

I can't take seriously any arguments about respecting the lore in the same expansion that we're getting sexy Nier robots as one of the main attractions in the form of a 24-man raid series. It's completely possible to enjoy the lore and be enthralled/immersed by it while also recognizing that all lore decisions are arbitrary beyond whether or not the devs felt like doing it and, to a lesser degree, because people asked for it. Yoshi has admitted that one of the main reasons we're getting Viera at all is because we've asked for them for years. You may not like the way people ask for things, but outside of raw economic data (subbing and unsubbing) that doesn't really speak to the success or failure of any one feature in the game, this is how the Player-DevTeam relationship works.
