Flail or Ball and Chain, i want to show off some fancy moves/
Dual wielded swords and pistols. Honestly so many Limsa NPCS have pistols I'm surprised we don't have them yet.
Usually when I think of weapons, they're typically associated with job concepts I'm doing.
Hammer is definitely a more prominent choice, especially given that we've had animations for it since 2.0 with the original Nero fight. Concepts I've done for Green Mage are usually what give a hammer to. Viking could use it, but given the dev team's preference toward historical accuracy when it comes to more standard weapons, I've usually given that a shield and harpoon (also so it'd give more differentiation between it and Warrior).
Dual clubs, not whips, are what I usually see for a Beastmaster job. That might be because whenever I imagine that job, I tend to think less tamer and more Tarzan for it.
Maybe an orb or something that just floats around. I sorta did that with my concept version of Morpher as well as the Saint concept I did on the forums ages ago.
Now if we're gonna have another ranged weapon, I say go big or go home. Either a bazooka (used for my versions of Chemist and Cannoneer) or a crossbow almost the same size as the character using it (Ballastician).
Lastly, a concept I've been working on uses a weapon type that I just call an "arsenal" since the job is based around implementing multiple weapons and revolving around every weapon type.
Greatbow. You know. Bow. But Bigger. Greatbows are great bows. Would love to see a Sniper job that acts as Bowmage. Physical rDPS but with cast times (As opposed to BRD which has had its cast times removed)
Naginata. Sword... On a stick.
Glaives. Twice the blades, twice the fun! Preferably on a stave base (Think Star Wars twin blade lightsabers) as opposed to the WoW Demon Hunter style.
Gun Gauntlets. I wanna punch someone AND shoot them.
Kusarigama. We have an alarming shortage of blades attached to chains.
Scythe. Move over DRK, the new edgelord is in town(Pls don't make the job that uses this a caster so it's just a glorified staff)
Stave. Yes, we literally have 2 jobs that use them. But Combat stave. For bonking people with as opposed to flinging magick at them.
Aether. As in, kind of like how Alisae made a sword out of her aether before she was given the one made of bubblegum. So you could shift it into different weapon styles, potentially for different actions.
Bombs. Like the Saboteur soul in Rift, where you stacked up bombs on a target and then detonated them dealing damage and effects depending on which ones you applied.
i'd Love to see whips, Great Mauls, Kusarigama, dual pistols that have vertical blades so melee / ranged physical rather than Melee\ magic ranged.theres more but these are just the top few i could think of at the top of my head for now
Whips/morning star and the job would be a ranged physical dps main stat would be dexterity.
A Cane, like some kind of Carnival Chief, you could use it to cast monster magic as support dps.
And call it Blue Mage.

A huge hammer is definitely the most interesting tank weapon to me and I'm sure they could come up with a lot of nice designs for hammers. Having a pulverising blunt weapon for a change would be the best way they could diversify the role, short of going full DoM tank somehow with a caster that protects itself using forcefield barriers or something. A DoM with barriers and enfeeblements could be called Illusionist and its weapon is... maybe something in each hand worn over the glove and the user makes gestures using them like a mime would, pushing and pulling sort of motions.
I don't know what kind of gameplay or niche it could provide, but I would love that aesthetic.
Heresy (warnings in advance): I'd like it if we could move away from a strict GCD determined only by Skill/Spell speed and get more gameplay variance by weapon type within each job. I mean, look at Machinist: it there any reason it would need a single (oversized) pistol to use MCH stuff with, rather than a rifle?
