Funny that you say this in response to what he said. The job just got out, it's an MMO, I'm sure that once next expansion comes out, everything will be more balanced and polished =)
Happens every time with any MMO online based game, if this is your first game of this kind, well, don't worry, there is always balance to be done. If you compare the launch of 2.0 (not even talking about 1.0), to the current state of FF14, you'll see that the game changed, so, just give it time.
When FFXIV ARR first released this "spam one button" thing was complained about to an extreme amount about bard. It was ignored, because it simply isnt accurate.

I agree 100%. Was skeptical of BLU when it was announced but it was a refreshing change of pace from the grind of daily and weekly stuff. Was also nice to see so many more people out and about and trying to learn spells.

I think too many people are seeing this as a main Job class, or wanted it to be. Understandable. However, it's refreshing to see an MMO trying new ideas, and create something different.
It's the starting point, more content will eventually follow, and honestly, I hope we have some more limited classes in the future, with special types of gameplay, alongside your usual classes.
Some people don't find this class fun, but then again, some people don't find tanking fun, or healing fun, or bard fun...
That's why I decided to create this board just to say I love Blue Mage, because, in all my years of MMOs, I've never seen a class that was to be played as a side activity. It's gameplay style reminds me of Guild Wars 1, really enjoyed that game. Since you needed to get people to party up, and had a bunch of different playstyles and builds. Your skills felt like a deck of cards. Hopefully, Blue Mage will become that. The first experimentation class.
Just let it flow, and it will eventually be where it needs to be. Again, it's an online game, stuff will change, and the devs already proved that before. The concept is solid in my opinion, just needs polish.
The thing I like the most about Blue Mage is the fact that with an actual spell list and some of those being a higher tier of a certain spell or having different effects gives you customization options in your playstyle. Which is what a lot of players have really been asking for.
And learning spells from bosses akin to Megaman is more rewarding then gear ever will be because it always has a use instead of falling off the next patch.
You have a ton of Crowd Control, great utilities and skills that work well for DPS and Tanking(to a degree) and a great healing burst skill.
And although we only have 49 spells out the gate we can look forward to later patches giving us a total of 120+. Which means it's going to be fun to see which 24 spells we want to have. It's only going to get better.
You feel weak at the beginning but as you learn more and have more effective spells at your disposal you'll feel very powerful. And it's a great feeling to look at your kit instead of your stats all the time.

I'm not really a BLU fan, so honest question: if BLU was a caster DPS like BLM, SMN, and RDM, where you learn spells automatically when you level or by doing job quests--none of the RNG, just complete the quest and learn the spell--how is that any different from BLM, SMN, and RDM only with a blue outfit? My enjoyment of the BLU content is limited by the limited job design. I would main it if I could. It's that fun. But I can't, and for no good reason. So I won't play it at all.
There's nothing wrong with adding non-endgame content to an MMO. Taking a job that so many people love and hamstringing it with a boatload of restrictions seems like the worst possible way to do this. I would rather have a watered-down BLU that I can play as a real job than this "faithful" version, where dungeon bosses are immune to half the BLU abilities anyway.
I'm also disappointed that the reward for the Carnival is just seals that we can get in other ways. I was hoping for unique stuff that makes it worthwhile to level the job.
They took one of the most beloved jobs in Final Fantasy and made it a way to grind for seals once a week. If that doesn't depress you, you aren't really a BLU fan.
I understand that people who are BLU fans are upset. I'm just not sure that there's a way to implement the class in FFXIV without stripping out the elements that make it unique, or without completely rethinking the model of the game. And while I think there's a case to be made that it's past time to do the latter, like everything else that takes time and resources.
Don't get me wrong, i am enjoying playing the job. It is refreshing to see the lower level areas full again. If this was a job that was released with the initial game, it would be a different story.
But like others keep saying, they made an iconic job side content, its a little depressing.
FFXI was my first MMO, and Blu was done exceptionally well in there. Most of the jobs were overall.
I know 14 is a complete different beast, but this version of Blu just doesn't do the job justice. Yes, there is room for improvement, and a large volume of the community is hoping for that, we are also just scared of what will happen, because we didn't expect Blu to have so many downsides.
I don't care for endgame too much either, i'm currently working on leveling jobs anyway, but i'd love to be able to take Blu into the Duty Roulettes, do a Squadron mission with it, heck, even Guildhests. Its a solo job they say, But, then you need to group to learn a large volume of spells. Right now, its relatively easy to get groups. But once the initial Aww of the job has passed, its going to be how queuing for lower dungeons was before the Duty roulettes were released. Literally waiting hours just for 1 group.
Its just kinda a let down, especially for so many people who Really love this job.
And also, its 50 cap, so you can't solo "farm" anything at a higher level, you can't do higher solo content, it just feels unfinished. Yes, it was just released, so we can have hope they will complete it successfully.
What I love about BLU, it's a fresh air to do something on low level areas (visitting those sentimental places again where you were just starting out) instead of doing dailies/dungeons/roullets/raids every time I log in.

At 47 of 49 spells, I took my BLU to Falcon's Nest and finished up the side quests there. Glass danced some heretics into the icy embrace of the snow drifts, mowed down animals with Glower for the fortress larder, and generally stuck my coeurl mask clad face into everyone's business. It felt good experiencing the game as my favorite FF job, and it makes me want to play BLU through the MSQ. I love this job, I get excited whenever I can run it through content, and I hope they open it up so it can participate in all the things.

Gonna share my love to. BLU is awesome but not perfect and it's upsetting to see so much salt that might stop the devs from devloping this more.
It's final fantasy so of course there will be minigame content, and it's great. The fights are challenging (some a little too challenging), and it's stirred up a lot of engagment between players. How many of you actually have nice chats in DF?
I don't need my Stone spell to look like seed cannon, holy like 1k needles, fira like fire breath, etc etc. I don't need another pointless veneer to do mindless grinding with. We got plenty of that. This is new content that we did not have before, coloseum chalenges.
I bet if it was a regular job, it would be all about how it's not a BLU (we already get this if it's not the CORRECT FF version) and how none of it makes sense. "Bubbles procs into 1k needles? What?" IIRC Ninja has the most actions at 33, BLU already has 49 and I'm already upset Seed Canon isn't one.
They say it's hamstringed by being limited, but it's as free as ever to be BLU and be fun. My biggest worry is that this toxicity will lead SE to not make BST limited. It could work as a regular job (FFX-2) without capture, but Monster Arena would be cool (oh and a besteiary), and Puppet pmaster could fill that mechanical roll in regular content just fine.
Tl:dr BLU is great, the toxic salt is aweful, get over it. Give me any anti-BLU argument and I'll counter it.
