Viera Race "Confirmed" for 5.0! Are you gonna change races?

Just out of curiosity, what makes fran or Viera amazonian? I don't care about what they actually are lore wise but if you showed a picture of viera to someone who didn't know her, I don't think strong or amazonian is the first thought. You mention you want a muscular option but all viera images I see are pretty scantly clad sexy girls. They are super thin and have no meat on em and don't look like something I would consider a warrior race based off appearance.

Do you think Wonder Woman isn't an amazon? Wonder Woman vs Big Barda for example you have one that isn't too tall and isn't "beefy" yet comes from an all female warrior race vs a taller woman who has broad shoulders and is much more muscular yet you'd never say neither was tough. For many people it comes down to the height as it's rare for bipedal females to be up there in height. You don't have to be muscular just to be thought of as amazonian. Also how does skimpy clothing equal to not being amazonian?

Anybody who wants cute viera males or males in general are just part of a minority of those who know what they're getting into. As i stand my majority brothers and sisters of the TRUE Viera fans take up a simple creed.

And with the actual addition of Fran in the game, no doubt it will be made so. I am a big fan of 12 too, and I played it since the original release. What we don't know however, is how the males will be projected, that's why people don't talk about females AS much since we already have a confirmation regarding that.

Oi, get the silly idea of male Viera outta yer head. Please SE, no more disgusting ideas like female Roes, lalafails or male Miqotes.. Male Vieras would be gigantic error imo.

Viera are described more as such (as a whole) -> strong, imposing warriors within the jungle.

Fran's more just an imported model which has a height I like, I just hope they let us have some muscle tone options and maybe some squarer jaw options. But I was mostly thinking about the race as a whole, from that point.

Even if in most cases they do tend to be thinner/softer, they tend to have stronger facial features and are taller than 3 feet. I'd rather have the taller and-can-actually-be-dressed-to-look-imposing option even if it's a thinner/softer base and not a waifish species that's described as a warrior species but looks like they belong in some slice-of-life show.

That happens mostly if the game thinks the one giving the hug is on higher ground than the person being hugged even if to our eyes they're at the same ground level or not enough of a height difference to have it matter.

We were in the market hall at Limsa - I thought that would be counted as flat ground.

Maybe the game calculates the 'situational' height difference between the characters at the time when you use the emote, so being on a slope can be the tipping point between using the normal and kneeling animations, but it can happen elsewhere if the difference is large enough?

If the difference is big enough, they'll bend down for Miqo'te and Au Ra afaik. My max Elezen male always bends down for min height Miqo'te.

I was going to do this right before my sub ran out last week, but my server was too congested as I went to do it. I'm making an alt character--once I can log in again during a wee hour of the morning--so I can fantasia her to a Viera when the expansion comes. That way I'll have the punny name reserved on Greg server. I won't reveal the name yet here, but I will cross my fingers that it's still available when I go to make the pre-Viera alt.

Honestly, the race couldn't come out soon enough, quite literally, since my alt's name would relate to a holiday and in-game event. Maybe next year, if I'm still playing, I'll bring her out for the seasonal lulz.

Liked the Viera in FFTA, was let down by them in FFXII. FFXII went out of their way to make Viera different and mysterious, with their bizarre clothing and their cultish isolationism, whereas in FFTA they weren't "special" - just another race, interacting with and getting along fine with Nu Mou, Bangaa, Moogles, and so on. When I saw that they apparently lifted the FFXII concept whole cloth when introducing Viera to this game, what little temptation I had to change dropped to zero.

Not that I had a lot of temptation to begin with. The whole reason I changed to Au Ra is because I wanted to be a race that was NEW, not lifted from another game. Even my original race, Roegadyn female, I picked because while Roes were lifted from FFXI's Galka (except for the tails ), there were no female Galka, so at least that was new.

I see this as babyish and lalafellish. Only difference between lalafell and these Viera concepts is that the Viera have actual legs.
