Questionable skills like Self-Destruct and Final Sting...okay? And some of the skills are different from the actual monster counterparts. So much for them having to be the same.
I think if they allowed squadrons and the trust system to work with blue mage those party spells wouldn't be so rough (easy now, I mean far into the future it might be bad to get those skills).

As for the two goof spells I think they're just that lol, I wish the other jobs had goof spells to be honest. No teleport craig on white mage, crazy jump spells on dragoon.. ;(

I can also command my squadron to hold back, should there be a skill I still need to see for a chance to learn.

I can only see two reasons for this: a limitation of the mechanics used to queue up for it, or because the already increased exp pool from command missions would be absolutely broken in the hands of a BLU.
Same lol and I think either the DF mechanic works through it some how (as you mention later) or they wanted players to team up in the beginning. As Blue Mage gets older though I definitely think it's a huge missed opportunity if they don't allow Blue Mage into it (at least assuming they don't already have a plan to do it later).

Uuuhh I just ran Tam-Tara solo unsynched, at level 20. Didn't have any issues. Even learned the skill right at the first run.

Meh, it’ll be good fun for many people for a bit, but as for me I won’t even be unlocking it for the time being. It looks like most of the abilities in this “solo” job require access to party content, but since you can’t use duty finder that leaves people like me who don’t have a group to play with trying to hope for help on party finder. I would imagine right now directly after release maybe that wouldn’t be too daunting a task, but soon enough blu hype will have died down and no one will want to bother anymore, and blu will become pretty much dead content for many people who don’t have dedicated groups. I’m not in the mood to try to rush before interest inevitably wanes, so I plan to wait and see if trusts will make this content any more doable. If not, oh well, everything can’t be for everyone, and it’s good it’s enjoyable for a lot of people. I just hope they don’t continue to add jobs that are essentially a rush to beat obsolescence.

I mean unless blu can flat out solo a lot of the content at whatever power level it has upon needing to access said content....

has anyone tried to solo Aurum Vale to learn Glower from the 2nd boss? I know we're supposed to party up to learn that, but since it's possible to enter undersized solo, I kinda want to try as a challenge XD I suppose Mighty Guard, White Wind and 1000 Needles are a must have. Acorn Toss and Bad Breath, bosses might be immune to Self Destruct tho...

I wonder how a broken Job, that can be leveled to 50 in a day and only be used in ARR content, is supposed to keep players occupied. Is anyone still going to play Blue Mage after a week or two?

After a bit of powerleveling I am level 17 with 8 spells under my belt. This "masterpiece of game design" might've been so if this were a single-player game, but alas, it is not. So you need to tag the mob before everyone else kills it just by auto-attacking and tagging it too. And then you have the well intending but erroneous people who kill it before it finishes its cast, if it even cast it at all (Detonator =\= Self Destruct). And then there's the outright griefers. And if I want to have any semblance of a peaceful time getting those skills, I need to either wait until I'm 50 and can solo the dungeons, or get someone to carry me. I just run-traded my way to Self Destruct.
I really doubt this is the intended way to play it, if nothing else.

I also would've liked a better tell in the spellbook. Ok so this spell is learned in Western Thanalan. Now, Western Thanalan is a pretty big place, with an even bigger level range. So theoretically I'd have had to go each mob and let it use every single one of its abilities on me in order to have a chance to learn... whatever this skill is. And it's not that I can say "oh ok it's not this mob" because if I didn't get the skill, it could just be bad rng.
So either I need to deal with this godawful experience, or I need to 'talk to the community' which basically boils down to reading a guide. So much for that solo experience. And it would've been easy to make it not as excruciating if they just told us more things about the spells. A name would've been ideal but I concede that might've been too easy (and even then it's subjective because not everyone knows the mobs of every area too well). A level range, an element, anything to not make it this much a needle in a haystack.

There obviously has to be a cause and effect. What is forbidden, exactly, and what happens to those who take part in said forbidden activity? You left the door open for interpretation.

On the other hand, it's good you provided some clarification regarding global chat vs PMs vs grieving.

To be fair, I didn't see anything all that unique or unidentifiable in the spell guides I've glanced over. Most of these are traditional FF spells that the same enemy types have been using for 30 years. But if you're not a long-time FF player, of this game or others, I suppose it could seem overwhelming.

It's a neat class, for the absolute wrong game.
Right now, FFXIV!BLU and FFXIV feel like they are in conflict with eachother, their systems incompatable, and it leaves me whishing I could do something with it once I cap it out and complete its collection.
Something like an end-of-game stage where I'm free from restricted progression, free to hone my skills. Maybe even tackle some kind of challenging content with other players where we could all benefit from playing together, instead of only one person getting everything out of it and feeling like a burden on the group..

As it stands, for me, BLU is just an over budgeted, over hyped sight seeing log that trades bloodvessel exploding jumps for open world mob grind and the lost potential in what could've been a really fun addition to an mmo's class roster.

I'm wondering how an ex primal, how a dungeon, how a raid that can be beaten in a day/week can keep players occupied for an entire 3 months. Oh right, BLU has the masked carnival, which has good rewards.
