In Orbonne Monastery final boss. MT takes a tankbuster without any cooldowns, dies, I pick the boss up. (Former?) MT gets rezzed and says something like "Im taking aggro back once Weakness wears off BTW." I say "I figured, you didn't seem reasonable" or something like that. I basically bit at him. He replies with a ">=)" So since he'd be fighting me for the aggro anyway I go into sword oath and let him take the boss back. Then later while i'm doing another mechanic I notice the boss aggros on me while I had my sword oath on not even hitting the thing. I got really confused. Turns out he died again to the tankbuster because he didn't put any cooldowns on again. I wouldnt have even known that if he hadn't mentioned something about taking the tankbuster without shields really hurting. Boss was really close to death by then but I was still disappointed in my co-tank there.

Doing roulette 70 as bard. Fractal Continuum (Hard). Tank said brb because phone call and, after 2 minutes, leave. Was first time for healer. Wait 3 minutes and still without other tank enter there. So I said about I am noob tank and did leveling with fates, but for help I try enter as paladin.

A little slow and without big pulls, but we completed that dungeon

When you get a BRD in Ala Mhigo with Bardams Mettle gear and an ilvl 285 weapon and no SB AF ilvl 290 gear but has Refulgent Arrow, I ask him why didn't you put it on? "I'm working on it".

Plays no songs, barely even DoTs, has multiple 70s, I ask them if they know what songs are. Nothing. I ask them can they play a song they play Warden's Paeon on themselves, you're close my dude!

Sigh I can excuse a lvl 30 BRD who just unlocked the class but when you're lvl 70 in a lvl 70 MSQ dungeon and you can't even use a song or any DPS and then your friend gets mad for kicking you then dips, I was patient and even tried to communicate several times but I won't carry someone like that who has 2 70s and is running with their friend who says "it's fine brah it's Ala Mhigo lol".

So I finally got drk to lvl 70 and I 'was' feeling pretty good about my progress. I did mechanics in raids that most tanks ignore ect. Then I do the 50/60 dungeons and get a new party in Snowcloak. Pulls are going fine then we do the second boss. I do it how people typically do it. and ignore the small ads and keep the bosses attention except when we need some snowballs.

Well my healer didn't like that. They start wanting me to turn the boss every which way and I figured that the small guys aren't doing any real damage and I've always healed it that way. After that fight the healer starts acting like a jerk referring to me as "tank". I politely ask them to call me by my name and they continue being rude.

Of course they mess up the mechanics with fenrir but I don't scold anyone because its an old dungeon and mistakes happen. Honestly though I hate being talked down to in any role let alone tanking. I'm really self conscious about tanking and want to get better at it. But being rude to someone doesn't help them learn.

So a story with two annoying mentors in O8 with my WAR. 1 mentor was my co-tank, a WAR, and the other an AST. Rest of the team were not mentors and we had some newbies.

First thing I noticed during the water part of the fight, is that the AST who had the marker (where the next AOE drops) stood real close to the other guy who had a marker. Which almost killed the entire party and left no room but the water to run away from the incoming aoe (dunno how we survived that).
Then came the part where tanks have to intercept the balls with the tethers. I go get the one at the South but who do I see trying to take the tether from me? The AST. AST who thought she would be okay by using Diurnal Sect.

Feeling the need in me to help her commit suicide, I obliged and resumed hitting the boss. Then for some reason she complained about me. "Whatever" I said.

Then came the tornado part. MT doesn't position the boss in the corners (she positioned him right at the limit of the tornado, in the middle at the top on the mini-map) and was surprised to see that you can fall down.
So I go MT and position the boss where he should be. Former MT comes back and vokes the boss, trying to steal aggro. Fine then have some shirk to boost your ego.
And there she went to position the boss where it was again....And she fell again.

Then surprise, the AST who got the marker again stood next to the poor dude who had the other marker. And she deciced to use Diurnal Sect to eat the ball, that she stole from the DPS who had the highest hp, again (Mentor tank didn't do her part here).

During the rest of the fight, I MT'd, not letting the mentor tank have her way.

I think the poster you quoted isn’t completely aware of what was actually happening. He seems to be implying the AST was “using Diurnal” to tank a buster like it’s some kind of cooldown. Obviously, it’s not, and it literally can’t be used (turned on and off) that way. I don’t doubt there were problems but he doesn’t seem to really know what he’s complaining about.

Roulette trial today gave Tsukuyomi in progress, echo 10%. Well, lately I die few times there, but generally I see south side as safe. And today tank sometimes changed aside o.ô After second wipe, I checked the tank position more times and did not die.

That is exactly what happened though. She used Aspected Benefic under Diurnal Sect to eat the tank buster. Maybe I should have been more precised but hey that's what happened.

Orbonne Monastery... Good story and a bad story(only cuz ran out of time) and on patch day no less(not big surprise). Let's start with the bad one.

First run and things seem to be going smoothly. We wipe a few times on the second boss and move onto the third... and good god everything goes downhill. We fail on Duskblade about 7 times, wipe on the dps check at least 3 times(many more after we passed it the third time) and we have people leaving. Sure we cleared it in the end, but we didn't have enough time to get through the last boss and some incredible determinators rejected the vote abandon before the last boss. Now if you're wondering why that was going through, we had less than 5 minutes left. There was no way to even clear it in that space of time.

Good story! Second run and people seem to be listening, with the exception of one SAM. took a couple hits but people got the first bosses... sniper mechanic. Then came the second boss and I was admittedly still in my pessimistic outlook. But I saw one crucial thing. When someone was giving tips, people were listening. So when we finally cleared the second boss(couple tries but no biggie), I sat up straight. downed my soda, and started giving as many tips as I could remember on the third boss. Lo and behold, they listened. We still wiped mind you. That SAM? They weren't listening. At all. Actually caused a domino chain of events that wiped the alliance. So we punted and replaced and I was able to field questions during that waiting time. This second group? only wiped 4 times on that boss total to my knowledge. Never failed on Duskblade. While we still had some problems with the variable sword swipes, it was a fairly clean kill there. And then we moved on to the last boss. I informed them I only had partial knowledge of the fight but we only wiped once on a mech in the second part of the fight. Second attempt, we cleared it extremely cleanly.

To anyone who was part of that second group, if you actually read this, you have no idea how proud I was. I never, ever, get that level of cooperation from DF groups anymore. To see that in motion, to see you all willing to learn and improving as you did. You made my night. Thank you.
