I love my Elezen to pieces. But if they are tall and fabulous like the one in game, I'll consider it.

There is a stream from yesterday where the streamer discovered that certain character and totally lost it. Just search youtube for 'FFXIV Stormblood Patch 4.5' (Evenstar LOTW) and skip to 1:52:00(ish) in the stream where the hilarity begins.
Well, since everyone is talking about the spoilers I might as well throw in past talks about Male Viera.

https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/the...n-sense/.91021A38: I don’t think we’ll have mixed races for a while. Since it seems like Viera is popular around the world we have been proactively looking into this, but since having a rabbit male might be kind of weird, maybe we’ll look into having a separate race for the male counterpart.
The issue with the Viera is that, if you look at them, they're basically humanoid save for their long rabbit ears and their heels. We already have a mostly humanoid race with animal ears in the Mi'qote. When we looked at those initial Viera concepts, it just seemed like a Mi'qote with bunny ears instead of cat ears. It simply wasn't different enough. Especially when we did the male designs… they didn't look beastly enough, they were just a little too cute. We wanted to make something that was original to the Final Fantasy series, and to do that, we decided to step away from the Viera.
I was actually strongly against showing the Viera concept art at the event we unveiled the Au Ra at. I knew that people would be like “why didn't you include them?!” [laughs] We feel we have a good thing with the Au Ra, though. If you don't like them, though, let us know and we'll take it into consideration with the next race we bring in.

"A little too cute" is such a weird phrase in the context of a Final Fantasy game, Dissidia's male cast is an army of bishounen lol

There's no way they'll do this. They went out of their way to add male Miqo'te and female Roegadyn for ARR. If Yoshi announces a genderlocked race live on stage he's going to get skinned alive.Well, since everyone is talking about the spoilers I might as well throw in past talks about Male Viera.

Not to mention all the fantasia money they'll lose out on.
To "add" to this: I started the Ivalice-quest today and one of the NPCs will tell you a bit about Viera-lore - specially mentioning two clanes (*hint* *hint*) and going on about male Viera in length. The lore they've already established for male Viera this way allows them to go on adventures without much trouble (they're basically doing that by default - in essence: the male Viera are living out in the forest, fighting any intruders and such and only return to the villages every 3-5 years to father new children and take the young males with them to mentor them).
Despite the obvious of them not adding genderlocked races again after going through the trouble of adding FemRoes and male cats, they also seemed to have established a lore that allows for male Viera to go on adventures without breaking any "rules".
That NPC also tells you has never seen a male viera over years being around the area, and that's he's never heard of one living the city either. Then plus you have the leaker saying there is two races, which doesn't seem possible unless they are gender locked. Then now, we see even Yoshi-P in the past saying he don't like male viera and that if they do viera, they might do a separate race for the males. The only good sign male viera might happen is the fanfest points to only one race and will probably be the last, which then makes the leaker wrong. To "add" to this: I started the Ivalice-quest today and one of the NPCs will tell you a bit about Viera-lore - specially mentioning two clanes (*hint* *hint*) and going on about male Viera in length. One thing I've thought about is maybe what it is there is male viera but they are so beastly that look extremely different than female viera to the point they may as well be a different race. You might as well say they aren't really viera. This would fit with Yoshi-P comments on not liking the male viera, and that he thought the concept art of them was too cute and not beastly enough. This would also explain why the leaker thought he was looking at two races, but the fanfest points to only one. It could even explain why the NPCs think they never seen a male viera before. They had but they couldn't recognize them as viera with them being so different than the female viera.

Making them two difference races just for two different sexes seems unnessicary as they could just make one race of Viera with male and female counterparts. While a lot of extra work, and this isn't something that's been done outside of the highlander/midlander hyur models, I think they could make the most people happy by having one race of Viera that look like Fran as we saw her with male counterparts having a similar mesh frame to the male highlander, and the other race of Viera being more around Miquote size, like the Feol. That NPC also tells you has never seen a male viera over years being around the area, and that's he's never heard of one living the city either. So basically the same exact thing they did to Au Ra. Man I'd be so upset. That NPC also tells you has never seen a male viera over years being around the area, and that's he's never heard of one living the city either. Yoshi saying that he hated the male Viera designs because they looked "cute" is pretty disheartening though. Again and again the female designs can be cute, but not male (unless you're a lala ofc). I don't think most people will be upset if they look similar to the females, even if that makes them pretty bishounen. ESPECIALLY if that makes them pretty bishounen. @_@

Also what's "too cute" about those released concept pictures we saw? They looked downright badass??
I'm just hoping that it's because that's an old, outdated interview that doesn't have the context of those rad arts.
