They're pretty huge for mounts if I recall correctly, but I wouldn't mind if SE gave us smaller versions to ride. I think the design is kinda funny. They're basically poles with a bunch of tiny wings (seriously, they seem like they would break just by flying forward lol). I would love to walk through Eorzea with that lol

    Blame Nero and Cid.

    Re. dungeon gear logic:

    1. Obvious mages are obvious. (Either that or they're eagerly awaiting our reaction when they reveal that the armoured sets are mage gear.)

    2. Tank gets the heaviest armour, so has to be the Elezen with full helm, breastplate and gauntlets.

    3. Dragoon gets second-heaviest armour, so likely the Highlander with metal gauntlets rather than the leather gloves of the other costumes. The purple colour scheme is also usually associated with dragoon.

    4. Striking and Scouting often have identical-or-close-to-it gear designs, with Striking being more colourful and Scouting using more black. So the Roegadyn and Midlander respectively.

    5. That leaves Aiming, which seems appropriate for the Au Ra's gear.

Yet drg and tanks have almost always had coppy cat gear and the other melee tend to have coppy cat gear drg only get purple when they feel the need to shout hey this is drg gear. I mean look at the viking scale mail which is the drg version of the tank set except i think the boots are different one's more spikey. Also drg has in the past occasionally gotten leather gloves.

They mostly fly. The video I linked shows lots of them in aerial combat vs. dragons that were summoned by Midgardsormr during the Battle of Silvertear Skies in Mor Dhona.

The "two orange ones" aren't exact copies of each other though. There's not much similarity beyond the colour.

Rather than having one design for tank/dragoon and a second design for striking/scouting, they've split it up differently.

There is one design uniquely for the tank, and the other design is used for the three other presumed-melee sets.

    ELEZEN (tank) GEAR:
    1. Folded two-toned collar and another fabric section below it
    2. Metal cuirass with strap running from right shoulder to left of waist
    3. Straight belt across waist
    4. Inner orange skirt
    5. Outer black skirt with a zig-zag hem pattern
(many elements are shared with the Au Ra's jacket)

    ROEGADYN, MIDLANDER AND HIGHLANDER GEAR:
    1. Standing collar with scarf
    2. Quilted fabric bodice with centre fastening, two round metal plates on shoulders, strap running from left shoulder to right of waist
    3. Curved belt and sash at waist
    4. Quilted fabric continues down inner edge of 'skirt'. (Or possibly it is a sleeveless coat with a second skirt layer attached to the waist.)
    5. Fancy hem pattern.

Again, I am quite sure the Highlander must be the dragoon - geared like a melee class but with one step towards the tank design, by having the gauntlets from that set instead of the leather gloves to match the others. The purple just confirms it, for me at least.

(But I do have to say... the colour scheme is strange. Most of them use varied placements of the same few colours (black, white, orange, blue) but the Au Ra's brown and Highlander's purple don't match the others at all.

Getting Allied Seals from the Masked Carnivale would be very nice, since I so rarely get to do any ARR hunts. Anything that I can use to net some more Aetheryte Passes is useful in my eyes. Plus, the extra gil is nice. Hopefully it'll have other rewards tied to it too. Once BLU eventually makes it to the same level cap as the other jobs, it would also be great to have current tomestones as weekly rewards too.

Hoping for this as well. At the very least, it's encouraging to see that Masked Carnivale is intended to be something you do on a weekly basis. I was worried it would be a one-time challenge, and then BLU would be left with nothing to do after "mastering" the job.

I do hope that in addition to the weekly rewards, there are achievements that provide unique BLU-related rewards like titles/minions/mounts.

Purple is also used a lot for ninja gear and in the past have had as spikey non stealthy armor you can facepalm at. Both hyur have the same style so for me they show off the striking and scouting sets. Sometimes with the changes between tank and drg are in the arms or the boots as you almost never see them once the outfit is complete. The roe and the elezen are wearing the same style and color look just one doesn't have a breast plate. It's not the first time drg has had just a visor or the midlander who I think is wearing the striking to have a helmet like that. Look at some of the earlier leveling sets where mnk gets a helmet and it's not just every physical dps looking the same like the vault set which had them looking like Shredder fron TNMT except again where drg and tank were copies. It doesn't make sense to have the two orange sets not be tank and drg as there is no precedent for it.

I'm a little bummed with the new dungeon gear though.

(I'm predicting Roegadyn = Striking, Au Ra = Aiming, Hyur = Scouting, Elezen = Fending, Lalafell = Healing, Miqo'te = Casting, Highlander = Maiming) Can we PLEASE stop with the robes for Casters/Healers, SE?!
Tired of this designer we had since hw that can only design robes and buttcapes.
