I think in this case, it kinda does? Most threads OP makes tend to be nitpicking what's in FFXIV now and then stating that 1.0 did it better and then doubling down when challenged.I don't quite understand how you can state "To each their own" and claim everyone is welcome to an opinion, but you started your post with TL;DR - rose colored glasses.
I really dislike that excuse as it feels like such a blatant write-off. Yes, nostalgia can be a powerful thing, however that doesn't mean that everyone who claims to prefer an older game over XIV is simply suffering from it.
Edit: or chooses to ignore what others say.

Nostalgia is a hell of a drug. Stop doing Nostalgia.
I'm not familiar with OP personally :X I haven't been frequenting the forums as much lately. I can appreciate if it's a constant thing, it's probably getting a bit tiresome at this point. There will always be things that other games do well, and there are things that XIV does well.
"Rose-colored glasses" just sets me off as it feels so dismissive :X It is quite possible to feel an older game is better for reasons aside from nostalgia.
With that said, I quit 1.0 very early on due to PC woes + RL + just clunkiness in the game itself. At times I wish I gave it a better shot, but THAT may actually be the nostalgia talking![]()
Their entire post history is just "1.2/xi was so much better in all these ways, 2.x+ sucks, why won't the dev's go back"I'm not familiar with OP personally :X I haven't been frequenting the forums as much lately. 1.0 is not coming back, the original director is gone and we are years built from 1.23 or 1.0. But I get what you miss about the game overlooking the bad launch.
Your best bet to scratch that XI or 1.0 itch is to hope that XI mobile turns into an XI HD remaster or that new mmo coming out called Pantheon. I know people are going to give you crap for holding onto the past but this game is not going to change like that.
There is this big time twitch streamer named Ninja that is bringing attention back to 11 and there is this odd thing going on. A group or people are pushing for an official FFXI vanilla server. Hopefully that gets a graphic and UI update. Time sink mmos no matter how deep have been shunned by the mass mmo players. But there is still hope for those who do like that type of game.

...and in regards to this: People arent "hating" on 1.0 - they're just being more realistic about it.
Dont like what has become of FFXIV? Move on from the game, keep your good memories and look for a game that suits the experience you seek better if FFXIV doesnt provide that anymore.
Posts like these wont bring 1.0 back - and what kind of answers do you expect from the community of a "different" game?
A game, that posts like the OP are basically "sh*t talking" by telling us how much better 1.0 was. And maybe it was for some people - but it clearly wasnt for SE.
1.0 almost ruined them.
2.0 saved their asses.
And now 1.0 is burried and wont come back and no number of threads will change that - personally I'm a little "tired" of hearing about this "1.0 was so much better!"-nostalgia. I get being sentimental about it or creating a thread thats about sharing great 1.0 memories, but refusing to accept that it will never be anything but memories. And that if they dont like what has become of FFXIV, they can leave.
Its not hate towards 1.0 or towards the nostalgia that people still feel for the game.
But its a bit like sitting in a restaurant you really like, enjoying a well prepared dinner (that might not be perfect, but perfectly fine and enjoyable) and then having someone bust in and scream how much better the place was with the old cook in charge and whit the old decoration and how anyone could ever enjoy any of this and not see how much better everything was when there were only 5 listings on the menu, rats in the kitchen and dark brown paint on the walls...

If we gave it another year or two, we may have a real MMO, a real adventure
FFXIV is a real MMO, though. It's just not the MMO you want. Have you tried the Extreme/Savage fights yet? Built a rapport with the people you meet in Eureka and became cross-server friends (speaking of, are you aware you'll get to cross server/world visit to meet those friends in the future)?
If they'd given it a year or two, we might not have seen another SE-game at all...
Its specualtion either way, because they didnt give it a year or two and we got an MMO thats obviously enjoyed and played by a lot of people. Sorry that 2.0 is not the game you wanted, but its the only one you got. No amount of posting and diving into nostalgia and old screenshots and videos and what not is going to change that now.
Not after 1.0 almost killed the company and not after the approach in 2.0 proved so, so much more successful.
As opposed to the totally 'fake' MMO of 14? Also no matter your nostalgia they're never going back, nor would they ever allow someone else to build off what they had. Japanese copyright law would never allow it.
