This isn't a tech improvement. This is justwastingthrowing more money at voice actors.

HD textures, new anti-aliasing... or just something to lessen the horrible effect from repeated textures on big walls (in Yanxia for example)
If they have any resource for tech improvements, I'd prefer them to focus on non-graphical/server-side : open more functionalities when in instance (/tell, fc menu, friend list, etc.) since we're spending more and more time in instance (Eureka, even the new gold saucer game is an instance...), and I guess the world-visit feature will have the same problems.
Two biggest issues visually imo are visible pixels (textures) and visible jagged things (AA, and probably other cool stuff I can't begin to understand). Then I'd say some stuff just needs more polygons, some things hide behind a 3d looking texture but are quite simple shape wise (which is an efficient choice for mid-lower computers of course, but if we're talking high end "gimme gimmie" I'd like to see the rock actually be at least somewhat 3d and not just appear to be lol).
my one major gripe with the old areas is in prae you cant hear gaius at all during his fight, his volume levels are so low compared to his attacks it just sounds like hes growling
guys graphical improvements and things like better character physics is not going to happen. they would have to essentially recreate the game. MAYBE when more powerful things are out like a PS5 or 6 and more people that play the game are using high end computers - that's when things will change.
when they created ARR - they did not make things high-res and then like de-res them. they never made them in the first place. that's why you can't just ask for them to add an HD Pack or anything like that.
Maybe eventually they can start using models from 1.0. :V
Double-dyeing.
The 1.0 physics probably still exist in the code, they've just been turned off. I miss the 1.0 movement physics but that was back in a time where there weren't movement-dependent boss mechanics. In 1.0 when your character ran and then you stopped running, they would slow to a trot before coming to a complete stop. That wouldn't fly in current FFXIV where we have to be precise as a surgeon when it comes to positioning for mechanics. Moreover, 1.0 FFXIV you couldn't turn on a dime, your character tilted when you turned like Red Dead/GTA. Now post ARR, you spin instantly depending on the direction.
The whole game remade with FFXV's graphics engine so we get better looks in pretty much everything including but not limited to actual fingers instead of blocks due to richer polygon counts for every model in the game!...
And of course, in case it was not clear what I mentioned above, physics for hairs, bodies and cloths!...
By the way, I wouldn't mind having all those physics 1.0 had, the animations were beautiful!...
Im not expecting anything big until 6.0 or 7.0, but armor textures for sure
