You really need to pick some better screenshots or show something animated, because so far you have shown things that have minimal difference even to those who know what to look for.
I think FFXIV being cross-platform limits SE to some degree in how often they can update the graphics. That being said they are dropping 32 bit support in 5.0 so maybe we'll see some nice tweaks.
Personally I'd like to see the shadows improved a bit. Right now with shadows from trees it's very obvious that their movement as the sun moves in the sky is not very smooth. Can be a tad jarring in The Black Shroud.
Am I the only one who thinks the NO AA one has more "life"& 3D?
look, the ground is blurred too...
and FXAA has less dynamic (the yellow circle is too flat & soft).
I will reach my post limit soon, you can compare it in game...

Real friends do not let their friends use FXAA.
Is this obvious enough? You really need to pick some better screenshots or show something animated, because so far you have shown things that have minimal difference even to those who know what to look for.

Are you serious...that's not even from XIV...you're not really supporting your own argument well if you're going to start posting comparison images from another game. I know what AA is. Was just saying your first examples weren't exactly great.
edit: also since when does AA add weather effects like fog?

I'm sure there are differences... but I can't see them :S
Maybe a smaller zoomed in section side by side instead of up/down?
The reason a lot of us aren't particularly worried about this is that we really cannot see a big difference between the comparison screenshots.
There could be a number of reasons for this, a few that come to mind immediately
1) Graphics card capabilities - There are a lot of players who do not have $800 graphics cards (mine is a comfortable $250 card, by the way).
2) Different platforms - Screenshots taken from the PS4 and from a PC do have recognizable differences
3) Differences in how the eye perceives things on a video screen
Does this mean the OP doesn't have a good argument? No. I suspect there are a number of people who notice differences in graphical quality and are bugged by it.
Does it mean that people who have commented here are trolling? No. I suspect there are also a number of people who never notice differences and are ok with the current state of graphics.
I have a screenshot as my desktop background. I use a 32" Samsung monitor as my primary monitor, and a 27" Asus as my secondary monitor. There is definitely a spot on the screenshot where aliasing is pretty bad -- and it is extremely easier to see on the larger monitor. Despite the aliasing, I still love the screenshot. I'm willing to put up with the bad area because the rest of the screenshot is spot on (and fantastic, of course). I have no idea if changing the anti-aliasing algorithm would make any difference. Given the perspective of the screenshot, I would think not.
The reason I mention this is that I think that, as long as the graphics are good enough, the requirement for perfection (especially with moving images) isn't there.
The screenshot in question -- you'll understand what I mean when you see it: https://dal-s-ta.tumblr.com/image/177208558588
