I sincerely hope what was announced is just the start of SE helping people out with the shuffle. Some players have had 4+ years to build relationships in their datacenter and now they're stuck between a rock in a hard place. I myself could go anywhere since I play solo now that all my friends and FC mates have quit, but I know I'd be peeved if I had a social network that was suddenly in peril.

That said, this move needs to be done. If we want SE to keep improving the game they have to improve the infrastructure that supports it. And if they have to take such a disruptive route to start the process then the results damn well better be worth it.
